    Their is no synchronization, between the software and the vacuum, besides the way that it is reading through the relay(on/off method).

    The vacuum pump is controlled by a circuit that has a pressure sensor, not included, (similar circuits used in industrial applications carry a very high price due to their specialization. This circuit keeps a range of suction in the tank at all times so the picking can be at its best performance. The range of suction is controlled by two potentiometers (components that can be adjusted like a dial on a stereo) to maintain a high and low vacuum and only run the vacuum when the tank needs to be . This vacuum is shown in inches of mercury. The higher the inches of mercury (Hg), the higher the vacuum.

    There really isn't any specific brand. We purchase the components in a disparate fashion from China. I will product a video today that shows all of the components that we use and also offer the components on the website.

    Hi, the dimension flange thickness for the 1/2" 5 start 10 TPI antibacklash nut is 0.27 inches or 6.858 mm. The flange diameter is 1.5 inches or 38.1 mm. The flange has two flats that measure 1 inch or 25.4 mm from flat to flat.

  • from what I understand, The BlackTooth Laser comes with an open bottom with no bed, does one pull air through this opening for fume ventilation through the bed?

    On the blackTooth laser cutter and engraver, the ventilation is at the back and there is a slit at the bottom front so when the machine is placed on a surface, the air will move from the front of the machine and out the back through the ventilation. This will move the particles past the mirrors and tube output efficiently with a reduced likelihood of building up on these important surfaces.

    The only screws that do not seem to be proprietary that may be able to be replaced are:

    There are M4 X 13mm screws in the Laser Head Mirror ad Lens Holder Nozzle assembly

    and

    There are M3 X 8mm screws in the Mirror Holder/Mount for 20mm Mirror

    The rest of the screws seem to be a very fine threaded metric based screw with a thumb screw for position locking.

    We generally use the USB to power the interface (breakout board). The current from the computer is sufficient to supply the breakout board.

  • Can the vertical CNC router do about what a horizontal router can, like cutting out 3/4" cabinet doors from a 4'X8' formica clad sheet? If so, how do you hold it - with Vacuum? Is a vacuum system available?

    Our hold down method is screws. For a 4'x8' 3/4" sheet, we use 6 screws around the perimeter of the sheet. This provides sufficient hold down for milling. For the vertically oriented machine, the sheet also rests on a small ledge, making it easy for the board to maintain position while fastening.

    The VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) is not supplied with plugs, cable or connectors. You provide the cable and power plug or connector for the VFD. All you need to do is get an extension cable and expose the three wires of the cable and connect them to R, T and Ground.     Our pumps only have a 110 volt input, so you will need to purchase the pump in your country.

    Not at this time, however, we are in development of a more advanced version of our pick and place machine with a larger pcb area. More details to come early next year (2017)

  • I'm selecting a vacuum for dust collection (greenLean). What works well in terms of HP and gallons of bin capacity?

    We use the Ridgid wet/dry vacuums in our shop. If you get the larger capacity that also come with a 6.0 HP motor seem to be a good fit and is relatively quiet. We also use two vortex type mechanisms in-line before the vacuum to get the big chips (first one) and the dust (second one) so the filter does not get clogged in the vacuum. Since we have been using this system, the vacuum will not contain any chips or dust which will provide 100% of vacuum suction throughout the entire machining process.

  • stepper motor runs smooth then rough for a moment then smooth, etc. Does this at all steps, and connected motors.

    This sounds like it could be a loose wire, or poor connection with the motor wires. Make sure all wires that are to be connected to each other are soldered and use a lineman's splice when putting the wires together. Also, make sure that the wires going into the driver is securely fastened.

    If this is an issue where the motors have run well for a long time then just started to show this performance issue, then make sure that there are no wire ties or other binding method that is chaffing the wires. This would make the motors run oddly at certain travel positions where the chafing has caused a short with the wires.

    If this is an issue where you don't have the motor plugged in at all and are just trying to turn it by hand and this phenomenon is occuring, then make sure all of the wires are not touching each other. When wires are touching each other and you are trying to spin the shaft by hand, the motor will feed current back into the motor making it difficult to turn.

  • I have the redFly system and a 2.2kW Spindle - 110V how do i connect the spindal?

    It is not necessary to connect the spindle VFD (Variable Frequency Drive also called an Inverter) to the computer or CNC motion electronics. The VFD can be controlled independently using the control panel on the VFD. The control panel has the ability to control all aspects of the spindle including Speed, Torque, limits, etc. However, you can connect the VFD to the computer so the CNC control program can control the spindle during the CNC Machine operation. You will need to connect the VFD to the computer via a serial conection (in this case, it is the RS-485 protocol).

    The following are instructions on how to connect the VFD to Mach3 via this RS-485 serial connection.

    The first thing you will need is the dynamic link library to pair with mach3 called the Huanyang VFD Mach3 PlugIn. You can find this file at the mach3 support forum here: http://www.machsupport.com/forum/index.php/topic,14182.0.html

    You will also need to download the Microsoft .net 3.5 framework and install it: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=21

    Follow the pdf that comes with the library file, but here is a synopsis of what you need to do (I also added a lot more information that may be useful during this process as the manual does not cover the main connections that need to be done):

    You will need to program your VFD so that it knows how to communicate with mach3 and the computer (go into the programming mode of the VFD and change these parameters):
    - PD001 - value 2 - Enables with communication aspect of the VFD
    - PD002 - value 2 - Enables frequency control from the communcations port
    - PD163 - value 1 - VFD address
    - PD164 - value 1 - Baud rate of 9600 (speed of the communication)
    - PD165 - value 3 - 8N1 RTU - 8 bits (that's the size of the word that gets communicated), N (No parity or no error checking) and 1 (1 stop bit)

    Copy the dll file to the PlugIns folder of mach3.

    Connect the RX and TX lines to your computer. There are a couple ways you can do this, but the recommended way would be to use an FTDI USB device which converts a USB to a serial com port. The device will have Rx and Tx connectors to connect to the VFD terminals with the same labels. This method is recommended since serial ports are not as common in computers these days.

    Next, you will need to configure mach3 to use the plugin library. Start mach3 and click on Menu -> config ->Config Plugins. Enable the new plugin by clicking on the red cross on the left column next to the plug in. Restart mach3 after doing this.

    No you need to configure mach3 to use the HuanyangVFD plugin. Go to the ports & pins configuration and select the spindle setup tab. Make sure that the Disable Spindle Relays checkbox is unchecked. We don't want mach3 to output a signal for a relay since the spindle will start up and turn off within the VFD and not from an external relay.

    Next, go to the HuanyangVFD settings by clicking on Menu -> plugin control -> HuanyangVFD. Set the parameters to the same settings you put into the VFD programming. The com port will be shown as new hardward when you plug in the USB FTDI device. A little bubble will be displayed at the bottom right where it will notify you that a new device is being installed (be patient while windows assigns a com port). Alternatively, you can use the windows device manager to see which port was set for the new USB FTDI device). You may need to restart mach3 several times until you get the correct information displayed in the PD001 and PD002 fields. When the com port is correct and the other parameters, like baud and VFD address is the same as you entered in the programming, then the PD001 and PD002 will show the number 2, otherwise, a 99 will appear which means that communication was not successful.

    You can now control the on/off and RPM of the spindle using the RS485 communication between mach3 and the VFD.
