Question #: 13276

Question: My Question is about the 2.2kw spindle, because the thread start is so small I have a hard time centering the collet before it binds from tighting what have others done to overcome this

Current Solution

Can you see any damage to the beginning of the thread on the shaft of the spindle, or any damage to the thread on the inside of the collet nut?

Additional Information:
There is no damage, I cannot put a tool in without removing the nut and collet when I go to tighten it, it starts to seat the collet and if I cannot hold the tool just right it is off center

Additional Information:
The ER collets should actually snap in to the collet nut, which eliminates that issue

  • I purchased a vfd and spindle from a friend, his set up is 220. I don't have 220 in my shop. My question is can I use your 110 vfd with this spindle??

    Depending if the spindle can work with this specific VFD, it might be possible. However we would not like to risk you working unit, with a possible match so we would like more details on your specific model and any information available on the spindle itself.

    Response
    The only info on the spindle is 2.2KW 400HZ 220V. Made by Zhong Hua Jiang.

    Was originally on a Delta C200 vfd. That is 220 single phase.

  • I bought a blacktooth laser from you about a year ago.. I am finally getting around to installing the laser tube and I noticed that my tube does't have the metal end on it like all the pictures I've seen. is this a focus lense and can I purchase one?

    As shown in the instructions the laser tube that was used was a different model which had the metal end, compared to our full glass tube models we currently ship with the machines.
    So there is no difference besides appearance between the two tubes.
    The focus lens should be placed in the laser nozzle assembly and not on the laser tube itself.

  • I have wired up my 110v VFD and my 2.2Kw spindle and I get an E.Lu.5 code. My wiring is correct and the parameters are set to those for the VFD according to your website I found in a previously answered question from someone here. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!!

    The E.Lu.5 Error code on your VFD is related to Low Voltage.

    The recommended action is:
    - 1. Check whether the input voltage is normal. (the voltage from the wall/breaker to the VFD)
    - 2. Check whether there is a sudden change in load.
    - 3. Check whether there is any phase missing.

    Unfortunately, these three recommended actions will probable require an electrician to test the line going into the VFD.

  • HEY ! I HAVE PURCHASED A VFD WITH MATCHING SPINDLE 1.5KW AND CONTROL PROGRAM UCCNC. MY INTERFACE CARD IS DB25, THE QUESTION HOW DO CONNECT TO DB25 SO THAT CAN SPEED UCCNC? SINCERELY "CNC BEGINNERS"

    Identify the Control Signals: First, determine which control signals from the DB25 interface card are used for spindle speed control. Typically, these are PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) signals or analog voltage signals.

    VFD Configuration: Your VFD should be configured to accept the type of control signal your DB25 card provides. This involves setting parameters in the VFD that correspond to the type of input signal it will receive for speed control.

    Wiring: Connect the appropriate output pins from the DB25 card to the input terminals on the VFD. This usually involves connecting the PWM or analog output to the corresponding input on the VFD. Make sure to consult the manuals for both your VFD and interface card for specific wiring details.

    UCCNC Settings: Configure UCCNC to output the correct type of signal (PWM or analog) that matches your VFD's configuration. This is done through the software's spindle setup section.

    Test and Adjust: Run some tests to ensure that the spindle speed is being correctly controlled by UCCNC. You might need to tweak settings in either the VFD or UCCNC for optimal performance.

  • [575] I have finally got my limit switches wired and working - thank you. Can they also used as homing switches and if so it it just a question of looping the two inputs on the board i.e. the limit and home terminals IN2 to IN3

    You will want to connect the homing switches (which may also serve as your near limit switches) to different input terminals. It's ok to add more limit switches with the home switches, but each home should be on independent inputs. For example, connect home X and any other limit switch to IN1, connect home Y and any other limit switch to IN2, and so on. This will allow you to properly use the "ref all home" button in Mach3.

    Additional Information:

    Additional Information:
    In the instructions (diagram 1) you show all the home switches connected in parallel? But here you say they need to each have their own inputs. "You will want to connect the homing switches (which may also serve as your near limit switches) to different input terminals." I dont see how the second and third axis can go home if the first axis has already closed the parallel circuit unless they back off a bit until the switch opens up again before the next axis goes to home? My machine has no limit switches so I assume they are home switches.

  • What are the configuration settings for VFD for Spindle 1.5kW 110V. The search settings have a link for a 2.2kw spindle so I'm afraid they are the wrong ones and I don't want to fry the spindle. My VFD is an Huanyang HY01D511B.

    Did you get a manual for your VFD? Where did you purchase the VFD and spindle?

    Additional Information:
    I bought the VFD through Amazon with a similar spindle that you sell. The VFD came with a manual but unfortunately the spindle had all the model number and specs scratched off of it. In an attempt to set it up, I fried the spindle. I have complained to the vendor and to Amazon but have received no solution. If your spindle arrives with proper documentation I probably can set it up myself.

  • [129] I have a Blackfoot and have a question about the power supply. I currently have a 36V power supply and my machine bogs down, would a 70V or something like that help, or will that blow up my machine? thank you!

    I would first check the mechanical parts to ensure smooth motion. Is your machine bogging down during cutting or jogging/rapids?

    You can increase the voltage to gain a higher speed for rapids/jogging, but make sure the driver can handle this voltage. There should be a max voltage on the driver label.

    If the bogging down is happening during cutting, either reduce the cutting depth or switch out the drive and motor for the axis that is giving the problem.

  • Hey ! I have purchased a VFD with matching spindle 1.5kW and control program UCCNC. And my interface card is DB25, the question is how do I connect the VFD to DB25 so that I can control the speed with UCCNC?

  • I HAVE A 2.2KW WATER COOLED SPINDLE WITH YL620-H VFD. THE VFD USES P#-## PROGRAM FORMAT. BELIEVE ALL CORRECT SETTINGS SETUP BUT WHEN TURN UNIT ON, IT SPINS AT ABOUT 200-300 RPM REGARDLESS OF WHAT FREQUENCY CHOOSE. DO YOU PARAMETERS IN THIS FORMAT FOR UNIT? THANK YOUR HELP. HUIBERT MEES

    You will need to look for the parameter that controls the run frequency. The frequency can be controlled bu the panel, external terminals, or the RS485 TX/RX terminals (UART protocol). You will want to change that parameter so it uses the panel. If you are referring to the maximum panel dial frequency is only allowing 200-300 rpm, then look for the parameters to control the frequency.

    For 200 RPM:
    Hz = 200/60 = 3.33 Hz

    For 300 RPM:
    Hz = 300/60 = 5 Hz

    Conversion to RPM:
    If you ever find yourself yearning to reverse-engineer the process, the formula is as follows:

    RPM = Hz × 60

    Look for values that match somewhere between 3 and 5 in your frequency parameters and replace them with 400 to give you 24,000 RPM max.
