Question #: 13487

Question: table dimensions and clearance for 4' x 8' greenbull (torsion box)?

Current Solution

For the 6'x12' greenBull table dimensions, the table width for the greenBull table must be 80.078" (6.67' or 203.398 cm) and must overhang the underside structure by 1-1/2" to make room for the rails and this overhang portion should be 3/4" thick. The length can be variable, but remember that the gantry takes up some of that space, so add about 34 inches to make room of the gantry and the connecting hardware for the roller chain on the four corners. We recommend if you want a full 12 feet of travel, the table must be at least 178 inches.

Other Possible Solutions to this Question

  • what are the table dimensions for 4' by 8' heavy duty greenbull?

Actual table dimension: 4'x8' is 56.078"x 121.50" (the overhang in the illustrations should be 3/4" thick)
To determine the frame dimensions, first consider using the frame height shown of almost 3' (2.86'). The width of the frame should be 4" narrower than the dimension from rail edge to rail edge (6X rail to rail is 80.078"). This will provide a 2" overhang on both sides (4X frame width should be 56.078").
The length of the frame should be 4" shorter than the desired length of the rails to provide a 2" overhang on both ends. The travel length will be 20" shorter than the rail length due to the space occupied by the gantry sides.
Two long pieces of 3/4" material will need to be placed on top of the frame with the 2" overhang on the sides and the end. These long strips of material will receive the rails and the chain mounts on the ends.

  • Do you sell plans (dimensions of parts, or even g-code) for me to build a greenbull?

The files and hardware option for our machines has been removed from the site due to the following reasons:
Difficulty for the end use of the files and the challenges (and time/money) on our side to assist in using these files.
The abuse of these files over the internet.
Ultimately may reduce the sales of machines keeping us in business.
Sadly, this is what has come out of our company attempting to be open; however, the machines sold on this site is still far lower in price than the competition for the quality that we provide as we have a great desire to engender the cottage industry to fulfill their need for low end manufacturing. My sincere apologies if this causes any inconvenience.

  • Would your greenBull 6X CNC machine be suitable for cutting 2024T3 aircraft aluminium? Working on a kitlpane project and I need this capability.

the greenBull can handle cutting aluminum as long as the correct bit (end mill) is used and the bit is cooled frequently to prevent chips from melting and causing damage to the bit or warping the material.

  • I can't spot the differences between 4'x8' blackFoot and the 4'x8' greenBull (except for laser head option): please, can you tell me?

Only our greenBull CNC machines will be able to use the long Z-axis, due to structural construction of the greenBull over the blackFoot.
The height from the table top to the bottom of the gantry is: 4.25"

Both the maximum cutting height and diameter, will be dependent on the specific end mill/router bit you plan on using, since they can vary in length.
The maximum cutting height (useful to engrave or cut material)is: with spoil-board 3.875", without a spoil-board is 4.625"
The maximum diameter will (estimated) is: 3"

Specifically dealing with our greenBull long Z-axis CNC machines, depending on how you specifically design the table you can have more cutting height and a larger diameter clearance. If you only create a frame for the machine with a hollow center(adjustable midsection), allowing you to have a greater clearance.

  • What are the specifications for the 2" strip brush as far as dimensions and width of the rubber top?

The strip brush is .2 inches (5.23 mm) wide, so a slot of that width or slightly wider will work. We use a .25 inch groove and use glue to adhere the strip brushes in our dust shoe.

The material of the bristles and the strip that holds the bristles are nylon.

  • Im in the market for a laser cutter with the ability to cut 8'x4' boards (different materials) and up to 5" height. I bought a greenbull 10'x5' a while back from you guys

Here's a link to the blackTooth laser that we sell, https://www.buildyourcnc.com/blackToothLaserCutterAndEngraver.aspx. It will vary depending which materials you are using, but keep in mind on how deep you are cutting since the blackTooth only cuts 1/4" inch(dept) at a time.

    Additional Information:
We will be carrying a 8' x 4' laser cutter in the near future. We will also design an attachment for the GreenBull to contain a laser tube at the head of the machine to convert a greenBull into a laser cutter.
