Question #: 13927

Question: So there will be no deals on kits (VLXL) coming up?

Current Solution

The 2017 Black Friday will not include kits unfortunately. The profit margin on those items are not enough for us to be able to cover overhead and payroll if we added a discount.

  • Any Black Friday deals coming up or other deals? Thinking about purchasing a VLXL.

Yes, for the 2017 Black Friday, we will have a sale coming up. The sale will include all assembled machines at a 5% discount.

    Additional Information:
So only assembled machines? Awe man. I would really like a discount on the Blacktooth Laser...

  • CAN THERE BE CLOSED LOOP CONTROL WITH STEPPING MOTORS?

I haven't delved into using encoders with stepping motors too much. From my research, you need to have a controller that can provide the closed loop control, rather than software handling that process. I have also found from my research that using encoders on stepping motors is generally used to stop the machine in the case that the motor failed to achieve the commanded position for some reason and gives the user the chance to correct and continue with the job.

If you want proper closed loop control, it may be best to go with servos and servo controller that provide the closed loop control within the real of those two components.

  • Why are there no specs for wire gauge for power supplies?

Most of our power supplies allow for a 9 amp current draw.

For the Neutral, Live and earth ground, wire gauge for that level of current is 14 for relatively short cable lengths. Increase the gauge for longer lengths past 25 feet.

For the DC 24V output terminals to the drivers, 20 gauge is fine. If the power supply is connecting to only one driver, increase the wire gauge to 14.

  • What warranty is there on the 40W laser and power supply?

Most of our products have a warranty that extends for 1 year; however, there are parts like end mills and laser tubes which are considered consumables. These parts, when used, become worn, or the usable life is decreased. Laser tubes are parts that, when used, shorten its life, and especially when proper methods are not used (i.e. running the tube with water), can drastically reduce the life of the tube. Therefore, the warranty for laser tubes are 30 days if the laser tube was not used.

  • Question about greenlean, is there a vacuum hookup available?

Our greenLean machine has a vacuum hose mount that comes with the machines specified with standard diameter hoses from wet/dry vacuums available at local hardware stores.

However if specifically speaking of a vacuum table, we do not have that implemented to our design.

  • What solder will stick on the tungsten terminal of the laser tube in a Blacktooth kit?

We use a standard leaded solder with flux. To help the soldering, you can add flux to the wire end and the tungsten rod. We have not tried non-leaded solder in fear that we would crack the glass with a rapid temperature rise. The leaded solder will melt at a lower temperature.

  • WHAT EFFECTS OF CELL PHONES WILL THERE BE ON YOUNGER PEOPLE OPPOSED TO OLDER PEOPLE? THE AGE OR STATE DEVELOPMENT EFFECT DANGERS A PHONE?

Physical size of the subject affects the fraction of the total radiofrequency energy that is absorbed in the body. To account for this known effect, the maximum permissible exposure standards for radiofrequency energy were set for the worst-case condition, that is assuming the body size for maximal absorption at a given frequency. Thus the maximum permissible exposure standards are fully protective for bodies of different sizes. For more detailed information, see the answers and the cited references to questions 79, 109, 694, and 893 under the Nonionizing Radiation section of the Health Physics Society Ask The Expert Web page.
