  • What does an electronics combo include?

    There are a few electronic combos that include various motors and drivers, but common to all of these are the power supply (36v) and breakout board. The most common combo is the standard 3-axis combo which includes three 425 oz-in motors and three 3.0 amp drivers. The heavy gantry combo includes one 651 oz-in motor and 6.0 amp driver and two 425 oz-in motors and two 3.0 amp drivers. The combo for the greenBull CNC Machine kit is three 651 oz-in motors and three 6.0 amp drivers.

You will also need to purchase the software that you will need to run the machine that matches how you will apply the machine. We suggest the mach3 control program. The CAM program is up to you as there are many options out there.

    The laser/spindle combo head includes the following major items:

    Spindle components:
    - The Spindle and VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) also called an inverter.

    Laser components:
    - 40 watt laser tube.
    - Laser nozzle with laser focus lens (20 mm).
    - nozzle tube fitting with 36 inches of silicone tubing.
    - 40 watt laser power supply.
    - Potentiometer (panel mount) to adjust laser intensity.
    - Toggle switch (on/off SPST - Single Pole Single Throw).
    - Air pump to provide air assist to keep debris out of the nozzle.

    Structure and hardware:
    - All structural parts to form the z-axis rail support and mounts for the spindle and laser tube/nozzle, vacuum hose and dust shoe
    - 1/2" - 10 TPI 5 starts lead screw (2 turns per inch).
    - Many screws/nuts/cross dowels.
    - Dust shoe with installed strip brush.

    If error shows at ramp up or at constant speed:
    1. Check for a short circuit or partial short circuit and the insulation of the output wire is sufficient.
    2. Increase the capacity or the inverter if it is too small. Replace with an inverter that has a larger capacity
    3. Extend the ramp-up time
    4. Decrease the torque and increase the set value.
    5. Check if the motor is blocked and if there is a sudden change in load.
    6. Check if there is a sudden chance in the power supply voltage.
    7. Extend ramp down time
    9. DC breaking is too high. Decrease DC breaking
    10. Replace the inverter.
    11. Check to see if there is a short circuit with the connection wire of the motor.
    12. Extend the ramp-down time or add a breaking resistor.

    18. Check the fan in the inverter. Is it spinning? Is it blocked? Does it have any foreign matter stuck on the fins of the fan? If so, clear the fan.
    19. Check the ambient temperature in the space that the inverter is placed.
    20. Check for adequate ventilation for the inverter where it is placed.
    21. Check for jamming or any sudden change with respect to mechanical load.
    22. Set the V/F curve correctly.

    Yes, all of the spindles come with collets. The collets have a 1/4" (6.35mm) bore for end mills that have a 1/4" shank. The ER specification is different for the 1.5kW (ER-11) and the 2.2kW (ER-20).

    It's actually difficult to say when we will get our 2.2kW 110v VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives) in stock. The problem of predicting inventory stock with fluctuating sales is a challenge, especially at the price we offer. Please consider the 220v VFD, even if a 220 outlet is needed to be installed. We have found that the 220v VFD units performance to be better than the 110v VFD units.

    Please refer to the Spindle wiring diagram found on the product page for the 2.2KW spindle. The wiring diagram will be the same for the 1.5kW Spindle. The only difference will depend on if you are using 110v or 220v power, as setting PD008 asks you to specify the max voltage.

  • wiring the Huajiang yl6000 inverter to mach 3

    1) Acquire a 5 or 6 conductor wire cable of generous length to fit between your Mach30 controller and your VFD (Variable Frequency Drive). The wire gauge should be somewhere between 18GA and 22GA. Maximum current draw will be under 20 milliamps. Cable may also be shielded and/or twisted pairs.
    2) Wire #1 from controller ground to VFD XGND (DC ground)
    4) Wire #2 from controller output defined as (MACH3 output#2) to VFD FWD input
    Note This will give you the ability to start and top the spindle.
    5) Wire #3 from controller analog ground (Speed circuit) to VFD GND.
    6) Wire #4 from controller analog speed output to VFD VI1 (Speed control voltage).
    7) Wire #5 from controller Analog speed 10V or 12V input to VFD 10V or VFD 13V output. (Analog supply voltage).
    8) Program the VFD to accept external start and stop control with front panel STOP.
    9) Program the VFD to accept external analog speed control for zero to ten volts input.
    The above wiring will allow you to start and stop the spindle, and set the spindle speed. You will have control both from G-Code and Mach3 front panel control, including manual On/OFF and percentage control.
    Note: Modbus control is very difficult and fussy to set up, and you lose mach3 front panel manual control.

    The VFD is capable of a maximum of 400 Hz frequency. That converts to 24,000 RPM for the spindle. The minimum frequency is 100 Hz which is 6000 RPM.
