### Question #: 797

Question: do you guys sell full set of lead screws, machined with bearings and mounts?

Current Solution

We sell all of those parts and if you need the lead screw machined to a specific spec, we can do this. To provide the specs, please send an email to us from the contact us page, link located in the footer.

If there is a specific part you need, please let us know and we can let you know if we have it, or if we can start carrying it.

• One of your competitors has a 2.2kW spindle with high quality German made bearings. Do your 2.2 kW spindles use German made bearings?

Our spindles are not included with German made bearings but have been tested and made to meet or excel top quality standards! We have not received any issues or problems with our spindles failing without human error. You can trust are spindles are high quality and will meet your standards.

• I am asking what to set my steps per using your kit stepper motors and a 1/2"x13 lead screw with Mach3

Here is the formula for steps/inch (steps per inch)

Steps = how many steps for a full ration of the motor = standard motor steps x number of microsteps for each step
Standard motor steps for our stepping motors is 200 steps per revolution.
Microsteps are selected on the driver and are shown as full, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, 1/32 etc... Use the denominator for the number of microsteps per step.

Inches = how far the travel is for one full rotation of the motor. For the 1/2" - 13 TPI (threads per inch), the travel length will be 1"/13 or .076923". So, for one revolution of the motor, the travel distance will be .076923 inches.

So, the steps = 200 * microsteps, let's make this 1/4 just for the formula.
The inches will be .076923. Plug those into the formula:
Steps / inch = (200 * 4) / .076923 This can also be written as:
200 * 4 / (1 / 13) = 10,400

• what type of lubrication should one use on a 20 mm leadscrew and 20 mm round recirculating rail bearings

You will want a grease that can be used in high temperature and heavy load situations also called high load bearing grease. A simple google search will yield many results from which to choose. We plan to carry this product in the near future (by the time you read this, we may already carry it).

• what are the dimensions and model number of the 3/8" ID roller bearings on your website?

The specifications for our 3/8" bearings are R6ZZ. The ZZ means double metal shielded. The metal shielding is to protect the ball bearings between the inner race and outer race.

Inside diameter: 3/8"
Outside Diameter: 7/8"
Width: 9/32"

• I ordered a redLeaf with Mach3 installed. Do you guys configure any of the setting in mach3 or will I need to do that all myself?

The redLeaf CNC computer systems will have either Mach3 or LinuxCNC installed as per the customer's request. If the Mach3 license is purchased, the license file will also be installed on the redLeaf CNC computer system.

The Mach3 or LinuxCNC settings will be configured during the assembly of the system. We contact the customer to determine the drive (mechanics) and inertial (weight of gantry and other parts of the gantry) specifications in order to correctly configure the steps per inch, velocity and acceleration.

• I just ordered a 1/2" lead screw and bearings, etc. But I don't see any 1/2" shim washers for those bearings. If you have any, please toss 8 of them in the shipment and I'll gladly reimburse you.

We will provide shim washers as a part of machine assemblies, but when purchasing lead screw and bearings, the shim washers must be purchased as well. Please give us a call and we can send them out.

• Do you make blackfoot with leadscrew for x and y axis?

Currently we do not have any lead screw driven machines except our scratch build kit, all other models use either timing belt or are chain driven.

• Hi, I need the lead screw and bearings for x/y/z axis of the CNC. What is the length of "1/2" Lead Screw per inch (Steel)"?

Depending on the size of your CNC machine, it will vary the length required for your application.
Please verify the CNC machine, and we can go into detail on the specific lengths or methods for the linear guide mechanics.

We sell our ACME Screw (1/2" per inch), also our longest length of ACME Screw is 76-3/4".

• I have a project very similar to cnc machine. I need 3 lead screws of 1.8 m with all set (supports, bearings...etc). and 3 NEMA 42 motors that I can connect with. if those are available, I need the information about shipping to Oman or UAE.

We carry several sizes of lead screw and stepper motors on our website, for example here https://buildyourcnc.com/Item/mechanical-leadscrews-lead-screw-!5-5-starts-10-tpi and here https://buildyourcnc.com/ProductSearchResults.aspx. Please call us at 281-815-7701 to discuss the particular lengths you would need and shipping options.

• do you sell plans for big machine with chain driven and how much its cost as dxf file which i can cut using cnc

The plans or DXF files are not offered. We sell the machines as kits or fully assembled. The kits are very well priced and will most likely cost less if materials and labor than working from plans (this comes from feedback from many customers that built similar machines from plans).

• Do you sell leadscrews and ballnuts that are 5 TPI? I'd like 0.001" per step, using a 200 steps/rev (1.8 degree) motor.

We sell leadscews and anti-backlash nuts at the moment. Ballnuts will be available from us in the future.

Specifically to your question, you want 0.001" resolution:

The formula: (we are looking for a minimum of 1000 steps per inch
steps = (motors steps)/(travel with one motor rotation)

steps = (200 natural motor steps) x (microsteps ) / 0.5" travel (1/2" leadscrew 10 TPI 5 Starts)

steps = 200 * microsteps / 0.5"

multiply both sides by 0.5":

steps * 0.5" = 200 * microsteps

divide both sides by 200:

(steps * 0.5") / 200 = microsteps

replace steps with 1000:

(1000 * 0.5") / 200 = microsteps

500 / 200 = microsteps

2.5 microsteps will provide .001"

I would recommend 4 microsteps (1/4 microstepping), so your formula will be as follows:

steps = steps/inch = (200 * 4) / 0.5" = 800 / 0.5" = 1600 steps/inch

• What are the other two dimensions of the 1/2" ID bearings used to support lead screws?

Inside Diameter: 1/2" (actual dimension 0.4975 inches or 12.63 mm)

- Outside Diameter: 1.122 inches or 28.4988 mm

- Thickness: .31 inches or 7.89 mm

• Do you sell 22 to 24 AWG stranded and shielded for wiring of the limit switches and E_Stop?

The wire that we sell for the limit switch wiring is here: https://www.buildyourcnc.com/item/3d-printer-component-cnc-electronicsandmotors-cable-wire-3-conductor-22-awg-wrcon-cablewire3conductor22awg

This is shielded cable to make sure there isn't any external interference with sensitive components and long wires associated with limit switches. This is necessary due to the interference caused by the motors on a CNC router and the milling process.

So unshielded is cool. That's what I was curious about. Cheers.

Absolutely. It's really the only type of cable I would recommend for connecting limit switches.
