  • WHY SHOULD I REGISTER MY WORK IF COPYRIGHT PROTECTION AUTOMATIC?

Registration is recommended for a number of reasons. Many choose to register their works because they wish to have the facts of their copyright on the public record and have a certificate of registration. Registered works may be eligible for statutory damages and attorney's fees in successful litigation. Finally, if registration occurs within 5 years of publication, it is considered prima facie evidence in a court of law.

  • will your parallel port breakout board fry my motherboard in any unfortunate event?

The parallel breakout board can damage the motherboard if anything happens to the board to cause a error. The parallel BoB, is tested before shipment so it should not cause any damage on arrival.
As most electronic components there are a lot of possibilities that may cause damaged. If your motherboard is having issues or you are concerned about the parallel breakout board causing damaged.
We recommend to try to run your computer with both the parallel and USB power disconnected from your computer and run a project without the CNC connected and test for irregularities with the computer running.
Then add the cables for the breakout board and re-test.

  • Can I add a fourth axis by just adding another controller?

In generally, you would only need a driver to drive the motor on the 4th axis.

A fourth (4th) axis can be added using a head stock that contains a motor where the motor turns a chuck that holds the object. The motor requires a driver that is controlled by an interface card such as the parallel breakout board, or the usb controller board. Our 4th Axis head stock can be driven by our standard 3.0 amp driver.

The software used to control the 4th axis would need to be able to control 4 axes (X, Y, Z and A). Mach3, LinuzCNC and Planet-CNC are good examples of control software that can control more than 3 axes.

  • My limit switches keep tripping a reset. Wiring all seems right. Could there be another cause I can check?

    http://buildyourcnc.com/PrimeronHomingandLimitSwitches.aspx
There is a pin setting in Mach3 that says how to react to the inputs from the switches. Your setting is probably wrong as the trigger happens immediately.

You may want to think about shielded wire and/or a resistor on each limit switch line. If there are stray wires, connect them to ground. Additionally, the shield from the shielded cable insulation should alse connected to ground at both ends.
Try upping the Debounce interval in Mach3. You have to adjust the debounce interval. You go to config, general config, and it is in the top right corner. I set mine to 100 and it seems to work well.

  • Are there any other manuals for the VFD that comes with the 2.2kw spindle?

We have manuals for the VFD rather than the spindles. Can you specify what issue you may be having so we can help you better?

    Additional Information:
I am having trouble wiring the VFD. (From the wall outlet to the VFD) I think the manual or setup guide on your website is wrong. The two diagrams show two different sets of terminals on the page.

Also, do you have a video or other documentation on programming the VFD? Your videos and documentation looks like it only covers the 1.2kw version. Are the two different spindles from different manufacturers?

Just click on the motion electronics at the left and scroll down to the motor you have and click on the title, or datasheet link next to the motor. The datasheet will either be in the form of a pdf, or within the instructions on that product page.

  • Will MDF slat wall make a good spoil board, or should I cut my own T slots in a solid MDF panel?

MDF makes an excellent spoilboard, but I like to use regular old plywood. MDF may have some nasty constituents so I try to stay away from this material. Depending on your method of fixturing and clamping, you may not need t-slots at all, but that is up to you and your application. I just screw my workpiece down and I also simply screw my spoilboard down into my table (using a regulas hole pattern.
