Determine Current Gain Rating (Hfe) for a Transistor

The current gain rating of the transistor must be 5 times the current of the current that will pass through the collector and emitter leads divided by the current that will be applied to the base lead.

Example: Hfe = 5 x (CircuitCurrent / BaseLeadCurrent) = 5 x (.2 amps / .04 amps) = 5 x (5) = 25
