Title

This is a 4th axis which will add additional functionality to your machine. It comes with head stock, tail stock, and integrated stepper motor. It also includes 2 sets of Jaws for inside or outside diameter gripping. The 4th axis adds a great deal of additional functionality to your CNC machine that you wouldn't normally get otherwise. A 4th axis can be used to cut along an arc, or be used in what is called indexing mode or continuous mode, meaning the cutting is done from a stationary point or while in full (continuous) rotation. The 4th axis makes machining something complex like a gear possible. Questions & Answers

Have a Question?

Ask a Question
  • Do you have any machine with 4th axis that mills hard materials like steel?

We currently do not have a 4th axis machine, but have a 4th axis available. We are in the process of developing a 4th axis kit, you can see the available R&D projects here(https://www.buildyourcnc.com/ResDev.aspx).

  • i want to construct 5 axis cnc milling machine any one guide me

Our CNC machines currently only support the addition of a 4th axis kit. If you would like to ask for more guidance, please check out our forums http://buildyourtools.com/phpBB3/

  • I placed an order for a 4th axis with tailstock on Wednesday and was just wanting to check on the shipment status. I'm needing the item early next week and need to confirm that it will arrive in time. Thank you.

To determine the status of your order, simply log in and click on the "[My Account]" link at the top of the page. If you purchased as a guest, you will need to call the office to determine the status and get the tracking number for your order. The office phone number can be found by clicking "Need Help?" is located at the top right of all buildyourcnc.com web pages.

  • HOW DO I WIRE THE 4TH AXIS THAT YOU SELL. I HAVE MACH3 SOFTWARE. NO INSTRUCTIONS ON YOUR SITE

The motor that is attached to the 4th axis is wired as follows: The motor should have red, green yellow and blue wires coming form the motor. The red and green are paired as one coil and the yellow and blue is paired as the other coil. You can wire the motor to a 3.0 amp driver with red to A+, green to A-, Yellow to B+ and Blue to B-

  • Will this work with the OneFinity Elite series with the MASSO controller?

Yes, this 4th axis system will work with the Masso controller. The 4th axis has a standard stepper motor. You will need a driver between the Masso controller and the stepper motor.

  • is therer a harmonic or planitary gearbox in nthe headstock, or is it just driven by the pully?

No, the motor shaft is directly coupled to the chuck via timing belts and drive pulleys. The mechanical advantage in this system is by using a small drive pulley on the motor shaft to the larger drive pulley on the shaft of the chuck.

  • what I need to buy to make this work on my GreenBull machine and the redfly?

Since this 4th axis already comes with a stepper motor, you will need a driver and some cable to connect to the driver from where the 4th axis will be placed. If you have extra space in the redFly electronics enclosure, you can fasten the driver there. You will also need some wire to connect the driver to the breakout baord.

  • will this 4th axis work on laguna 1q cnc

The Laguna 1Q has 154 mm of gantry clearance which is enough to clear the 100mm chuck and base of the 4th axis.
