Ask a Question
  • Will the mach3 usb interface card work with Windows 7?

Yes, Mach3 (the software profram) will work with Windows 7, and windows 10 when coupled with the Mach3 USB interface. If you intend to use the parallel port driver, stick with Windows 7 in 32-bit mode. Additional Information: Rnrmotion.dll is a dynamic link library which is very similar in function to an executable program, or app. Since a dll is executable, malicious code can be embedded in that type of file, so windows will automatically flag all files of this type. You just need to make sure you are downloading from a trusted source. The emotion.dll file on our site is clean, but still run run windows defender against it to make sure.

  • Will the Mach 3 USB breakout board work with a Windows 7 64 bit system?

I don't see why Mach3 under windows 64-bit wouldn't work with an interface that uses USB as it's primary communication method. I am a bit vague on this, so I will do more research on it. We recommend Mach3 run under Windows 32-bit when using the parallel interface as this is a legacy function. • Will the control board you sell work with windows 10 Pro

Absolutely, the controllers I sell: the Mach3 USB controller and the Pokeys57CNC controller will work in all modern versions of Windows, including Windows 11 at 32 or 64-bit. Additional Information: Now I am trying to decide which board I should use. I have a wireless MPG and every time I jog Z my X axis steps. If this is not a board issue I would like to go with a wired MPG. So I would like a board that I can have a wired MPG, use a tool touch off probe, control either spindle (VFD) on/off or on/off with speed control, and have homing switches. Additional Information: Both of the boards, Mach3 USB and Pokeys57CNC have onboard connectors for wired CNC MPG Pendants. However, the pokeys57CNC is a much more feature rich controller. • Will breakout-Mach3-USB-Board work in Windows ?

Absolutely. The mach3 USB will work in all versions of Windows and will also work in 32-bit or 64-bit mode. If you have heard that Mach3 in general will not work in some versions of windows, it is because past controllers used parallel ports, and MAch3 needed to use a specific driver that only works under 32-bit mode. The MAch3 USB controller uses a traditional USB port, so you will have no problem with any version of Windows.

  • what are the dimensions and model number of the 3/8" ID roller bearings on your website?

The specifications for our 3/8" bearings are R6ZZ. The ZZ means double metal shielded. The metal shielding is to protect the ball bearings between the inner race and outer race. Inside diameter: 3/8" Outside Diameter: 7/8" Width: 9/32"

  • I'm interested in one of your BlackToe kits. Will it cut plywood R/C airplane wing ribs accurately, including the small notches for spars and sheeting? I've heard gantry mass is too high, and causes the small notches to not be cut accurately.

Our blackToe will work with R/C models, and can cut plywood, acrylic, foam, light sheets of aluminum. The gantry mass is not too dependent where you will see a significant accuracy loss that will not work with cutting small notches or small detailed parts, but depending on your CAD/CAM software and how accurate you specify the design it would be best if you create it in sections where you can change the endmill to a finer detailed bit when needed. Also dealing with our CNC machines the accuracy is in the thousandths of an inch (0.001). Dealing with small notches, you will most likely be better off using a small endmill/cutter, for very fine detailing (ex. a 1/8" endmill or a 1/32" endmill).

  • I CANNOT INSTALL THE PARALLEL PORT DRIVER

If you are unable to install the parallel port driver during the Mach3 installation process, it is most likely that you are running a 64-Bit version of Windows. Install a 32-Bit version, and retry the Mach3 installation. • I am following the build your own CNC book build for my first machine. Is the hardware on this page https://buildyourcnc.com/item/cnc-machine-scratchbuild the complete hardware kit (minus the items it already noted were not included) required for the build?

The scratchBuild page as listed above (link: https://buildyourcnc.com/cnckitintro.aspx), will have all the necessary hardware (bolts, screws, nuts, washers, etc) to finish the 2' x 4' scratchBuild CNC machine, with a DVD tutorial that will help you along the way. Please read carefully, some items do not come included in the kit. Listed materials of items not Included: Computer of your choice that contains a parallel port Router of your choice Sheets of MDF for the structural parts Aluminum Angles for rails (.75"x.75"x.125"). Lead screws (1/2" allthread/lead screw, or other of your choice). suggested lengths below: X-Axis: ~52 Inches Y-Axis: ~32 Inches Z-Axis: ~14 Inches Electronics

  • I am building the CNC in your book - Build you own CNC Machine. One of the bearing thicknesses is 1/4" I can't find that bearing online. I can find 9/32, will that be a problem. Do you have a source? Thx

As long as the bearing has a minimum thickness of 1/4" and 9/32" is a bit thicker, there will be no problem with the book build using the bearing that is 1/32" thicker. There is actually more surface area which is better.

  • Hi, I need the lead screws and bearings for the 4' x-axis, the 2'(?) y-axis and the 1'(?) z-axis as specified in the book 'Build your own cnc'. I am not sure which to order on your website. Thanks

You can find the required components for our scratch build CNC here(https://buildyourcnc.com/cnckitintro.aspx). Lead Screw needed will be: X-axis: 52 Inches Y-axis: 32 Inches Z-axis: 14 Inches These will be the bearings that are specified that will be needed: Bearings 1/2" Inside Diameter - 6 Bearings 5/16" Inside Diameter - 24

  • Hi, I got two different bits I use alot. The 1/16th and 1/32 end mills. I use them alot for making signs. They seem to be getting dull. They are very expensive so I was wondering can you sharpen these bits? Do you have a service to do this? Thank you

Unfortunately, end mills will dull over time and need to be sharpened or repurchased. We do not currently offer any sharpening service, but we have a large selection of end mills you can find here http://www.buildyourcnc.com/ProductsEndMills.aspx

  • Hi, are the products from Newbiehack still in stock? Thanks

Yes, newbiehack products should all be in stock. Which product are you interested in and are questioning whether it is in stock? • Hello. I'm trying to start a cortex M4 based project and found your STM32 M0 MCU and Interface to Breadboard on newbiehack. I saw your name was listed as the author and it led me to here. Is this board still available and is it available without the M0 chip already on it? I need to use a M4 chip for the extra memory. Thank you.

Yes, the board and kit is available and for sale. If you need the board without the chip installed (so you can solder the chip on the board yourself), we can offer that. Give us a call and we will let you know the price of that option.

  • doesn't know the length of the lead screw for the plans/book version

The x-axis lead screw is: 52" The y-axis lead screw is 32" the z-axis lead screw is 14" If the lead screw come from us (5 start 10 tpi), the lead screw will require an antibacklas nut for each axis.

  • Can you recommend any handwheels known to work with your USB BOB?

Sure, here is our recommended handwheels for the CNC Control Boards we sell. For the parallel breakout boards, skip to the handwheels that don't connect to the control board.
