Title
Cool your "Water Cooled" spindle for your CNC Router or CNC Machine with this compact kit of pump, water reservoir, fan, radiator, G1/4 fittings and silicone tubing. This kit is a great compact way to cool your spindle using water circulation. Included in the base kit: - Pump to circulate the water through the spindle, water reservoir, fan and radiator. - Fan and radiator to radiate the heat away from the water. The radiator contains small metal fins to collect the heat from the water and the fan is used to move the heat away from the fins using convection. This allows two forms of heat transfer to cool the water: radiation and convection. - Water reservoir to hold a reasonable amount of water to be cooled. - G1/4 tube fittings to connect all of the tubing to each component in the kit - 4 strands of 1/4" ID and 3/8" (or 5/16") OD silicone tubing with lengths of 20" each. The pump and fan requires a 12VDC power supply. If you don't have a power supply, purchase the kit that incudes the power supply. Mounting the water reservoir and pump can be accomplished by using cylindrical clamping around the water reservoir. The water reservoir measures 2 inches in diameter and 11-3/4 inches in length including the threaded end caps.

Questions & Answers

Have a Question?

Ask a Question
  • What is the small piece of clear plastic for that came inside the water reservoir?

I'm actually not sure, but I believe it has something to do with reducing splashes. At least, that is what it seems like while watching the water flow. If others know, please add to this. Additional Information: It's a baffle to prevent the fluid from simply exiting after entering the chamber

  • Is the radiator aluminum and do you add and algicides or anticorrosive agents?

Yes, the radiator is aluminum. I use computer cooling fluid. https://amzn.to/3Oamjke

  • How do you connect the pump and fan to the power supply?

This instruction assumes you are using the 24VDC power supply that is sold as an option with the kit. Connecting the 24VDC power supply to the fan and the pump: - Take an extension cord, cut off the female end and expose the black, white and green conductors - Strip the ends of these conductors - Connect the black to L, white to N, and green to the earth ground symbol on the power supply - The V+ and V- on the power supply will connect to both the pump and the fan - The Fan's red to V+ and black to V-. - If the pump came with a black and gray wire, the gray wire on the large connector of the pump is the V+ and the black wire on the same connector is the V-. the wire by itself with a small connector is not connected. - If the pump came with a red, white, and black wire, connect the red to V+ and the black to V-, like the fan. The white wire is not connected.

  • Can you show me where you attach the spindle cooling system on your machines?

Yes, here is a picture of the z-axis assembly of our greenBullv2 CNC router where we place all of the components of the water cooling system (except the power supply which is fastened to the back of the gantry). https://www.buildyourcnc.com/images/greenbullv2-2-800.JPG

  • Can we order longer/custom lengths of tubing?

Yes, if you would like more tubing, just give me an email at customerservice@buildyourcnc.com with the length you need and the tubing will be sent uncut. I will need your name in the email so I can find the order and modify the order to reflect the new length of tubing. If you are looking for much longer lengths of tubing, you can find tubing by the foot here: https://buildyourcnc.com/item/pneumatic-hydraulic-silicone-tubing

  • Can I add 3 fans and a bigger radiator to this with the 12vdc power supply

Adding more fans will require more power from the power supply. Each fan should have the amps that the fan draws. Add the total amps from the three fans and add one amp for the pump and you will have the total power requirement. The 12V 2amp power supply that accompanies the spindle cooling kit will probably be insufficient for the additional two fans.

  • Approximately how many watts can this radiator dissipate?

The number of watts is not available for this radiator. The fan/radiator combination will allow you to calculate the watts, depending on the RPM of the fan but there are other variables as well that makes this calculation more challenging. The fan and radiator provided, with the flow of water with the pump provided are more than enough to cool a spindle within an environment that has an ambient temperature below 90 degrees. The radiator is aluminum. The fin density is 18 fins per inch. There are 8 tubes and the connecting process is brazing.
