Title
This is a 1.5 kilowatt spindle which roughly translates to 2.01 HP. The spindle comes with the inverter (Variable Frequency Drive) that accepts 110v or 220v depending on the option selected. The spindle is water cooled which requires a water pump and silicon tubing. We are using a 300 gal/hr pump that can be purchased from the home improvement store submerged in a bucket of water, but a chiller can also be used. The inverter will show the frequency and can be controlled from the computer. The inverter does come with an instruction manual. The spindle with inverter can also run in forward or reverse and up to 400Hz. Note: connecting the inverter to mains power will require wiring of the plug to the inverter. We recommend seeking a licensed electrician for this part of the wiring. The spindle, by itself, weighs 8.66 lbs. The diameter of the spindle cylindrical body is 80mm, so when finding a mount, use an 80mm mount. Collet Size for 1.5kW Spindle: ER11 Refer to this product page for the VFD/Inverter (Variable Frequency Drive) parameters and programming

  • the bosch router out side is 88.74 mm, i have a mount for the spendle you sale that fit however the hole need to be bigger

We can provide a mount for any size router or spindle that you need. Just give us a call.

  • I am attempting to set up limit switches on the 5 axis parallel breakout board that came with my BlackFoot kit. The output pins are driving the motors perfectly, but I can't figure out the input pins. With one lead in the 5V pin and one lead testing the input pins, my multimeter reads 0V for all of the input pins. Shouldn't those circuits be +5V? Where am I going wrong?

When wiring the limit switches to our BoB(breakout board), depending in the older model or our revised version (https://www.buildyourcnc.com/item/electronicsAndMotors-parallel-breakout-relay#prettyPhoto/0/), the older version will need the COM (limit switch) connected to 5V and the NO/NC to your input pin, but with our newer version you will use GND(ground instead of 5V) to common and the same for NO/NC but the setup in the mach3/confi/ports&pins/ is still the same. Here is a tutorial where you can see how to set up the limit switches correctly (with our older parallel BoB): Part 1:(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lER74YSmvA), Part 2:(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vagOQkunwsM)

  • how do I order multiple lengths of HIWIN guide rail with blocks?

Select the desired rail here: https://buildyourcnc.com/Item/mechanical-rails-HIWIN-Linear On the product page, enter the total "cut to order" length (in inches). Then call us to specify the cut lengths. Remember that our maximum length is 2000mm or 78.74 inches. Our phone number is located at the top right of each web page by hovering over the "Need Help?".

  • Diagnostics(Alt7) page-LED (4th from left on top row) is on. Having trouble configuring Limit & Home Switches. I think this LED is for pin 15. Any ideas where to look to diagnose?

We have a tutorial on setting up limit switches here(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lER74YSmvA), also we have noticed that the limit switches are very sensitive, so we recommend using shielded cable, or having them wired completely away from any other wiring (ex: motor wires, BoB to driver wires, power wires, etc.).

  • I'm looking to upgrade my X-Carve with one of your vfd spindles, can you reccomend which one to use to replace the dewalt 611 router?

If you would like to replace a router that outputs a relatively low HP (horse power) such as the Bosch PR20EVSK or Dewalt 611, both having about 1-1.25 HP, the 1.5kW spindle would have more than enough power and will also provide constant torque where the routers are unable to achieve. The 1.5kW spindle outputs 2 HP and is water cooled to keep the dust out of the air!

  • I have a 5hp 3600 rpm 3phs spindle motor will your inverter work for this application 1.5kw?

No. Horsepower is a measure of the rate at which a device can do work, as is the Watt. The conversion ratio is about 746 Watts = 1 Horsepower. Therefore your 5hp motor is equivalent to about 3,730 Watts. The kW designates kilowatts, or units of 1,000 Watts. So a 1.5kW inverter can supply only 1,500 Watts. Our larger inverter supplies 2.2kW, but you need a minimum of 3.7kW for your application.

  • It is possible to control externally the 1.5kW Inverter (VFD) (220 Volt) with PWM so i can control the spindle rotation? Do you have the documentation? Thank you

Our spindle VFD's, have a multitude of different connectors that can be used for different operations. There is a manual that comes with each VFD, and you can refer to page 11 for different functions and descriptions. We currently have a PWM, working with our machine, however it is connected via USB, and setup through Mach 3. Also if you may have misplaced or lost the manual here is a link to the pdf: (https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CCAQFjAAahUKEwibxaaIndTHAhXQlogKHZVyDFE&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.c-n-c.cz%2Fdownload%2Ffile.php%3Fid%3D42252&ei=_cHkVdvSC9CtogSV5bGIBQ&usg=AFQjCNHTQcxs-KhJkvkhMdxVFPzkoYJtsA&sig2=JAcZawTGMuC-t4wmn1z-rA)

  • What are the configuration settings for VFD for Spindle 1.5kW 110V. The search settings have a link for a 2.2kw spindle so I'm afraid they are the wrong ones and I don't want to fry the spindle. My VFD is an Huanyang HY01D511B.

Did you get a manual for your VFD? Where did you purchase the VFD and spindle? Additional Information: I bought the VFD through Amazon with a similar spindle that you sell. The VFD came with a manual but unfortunately the spindle had all the model number and specs scratched off of it. In an attempt to set it up, I fried the spindle. I have complained to the vendor and to Amazon but have received no solution. If your spindle arrives with proper documentation I probably can set it up myself.

  • please send wiring diagram for the 1500kw spindle and inverter combo. i need to see what additional things need be purchased. thanks.

Please refer to the Spindle wiring diagram found on the product page for the 2.2KW spindle. The wiring diagram will be the same for the 1.5kW Spindle. The only difference will depend on if you are using 110v or 220v power, as setting PD008 asks you to specify the max voltage. Additional Information: Additional Information: Additional Information:

  • Interested in the 110v 1.5kw spindle and vfd. Need an er16, or preferably an er20 collett. Would this item work.

Currently in our current stock the collet that work with our 1.5kW spindle 110V/220V, will be the ER-11. Only the 2.2kW spindle uses the ER-20 collet.

  • I have the 1.5kW spindle using the 110V vfd which I bought new and has never run correctly for me. The spindle will not accelerate to any reasonable speed before stopping. When it stops, the vfd display reads "E.oA.A". It does not appear to be wiring or settings, I have checked those many times. What else should I look at to troubleshoot this? Is it DOA?

The E.oA.A is an error that the VFD specifies as an overcurrent during ramp up (or acceleration). In other words, the spindle is trying to accelerate to quickly. The spindle cannot handle the inertia during ramp up and it is trying to draw too much current during this process. The best solution that I have researched is to increase the ramp up (acceleration) time, or slow the acceleration. You will need to check which programming setting you need to change, but there will be setting called acceleration time (or ramp up time). Increase this number in small increments until the error goes away. Then, increase it more so there is a safety factor.

  • How can we check our 1.5kw spindle. we get a dL error after we start to cut. it spins up fine. We checked IGBTs in the VFD and they're not shorted. We suspect intermittent short INSIDE the spindle. What do you think?

dL usually stand for a short that is occurring within the spindle or spindle wiring. I would recheck the wiring going from the VFD to the spindle, as well as the terminal on the spindle where there should've been some soldering required. We usually tend to either heat shrink or use electrical tape to cover the terminals so no contact or arching can be present. Also depending on the VFD you have please adjust the setting pd008, to the voltage that is required (110V/220V). If the issue proceeds please contact use at customerservice@buildyourcnc.com, for further assistance or replacement.

  • Is the "1.5 kW (kilowatt) Water Cooled Spindle with Inverter (VFD)" spindle speed regulated? (Will maintain its speed under load)

Absolutely. These spindles do not get bogged down under load like routers will. The speed is regulated and current will adjust with the load.

  • Inverter keeps giving me an over current error (1.5kW inverter error OC-r). However this is now making a cut that is 80% lighter than when I first received it. Do you know any way to fix this?

Make sure to check all of the connections from the VFD to the Spindle and make sure here isn't any short in the wires. That would be the first thing to look for. If that is not resolving the issue, check the programming parameters related to the current and torque setting to make sure that those are within the expected range.

  • I need the drive setting for the 1.5kw spindle drive to work with the spindle motor where do I find them

If you purchased the spindle from us, you should have received a little booklet that shows all of the program settings. If you did not receive that booklet, please call us so we can send you this booklet. If you have the booklet, please let us know specifically what setting you would like to set and we can help.

  • I am missing the wiring information for the 1.5kw spindle, my electrician says I need documentation for the 4 prong connector into the VFD

You can find wiring diagrams and illustrations for the spindle on this page: https://buildyourcnc.com/item/spindle-inverter-2!2kw-spindle-novfd This information pertains to the 2.2 kW spindle; however, the wiring is the same for the other spindles as well.

  • Hi, I'm interested in the 1.5 kW (kilowatt) Water Cooled Spindle with Inverter (VFD), I would like to know about the run out of this spindle?

Our spindles have a runout of less than .0001 in, which includes that collets that we sell. If you use a collet from another manufacturer, we cannot guarantee this TIR (Total Indicated Runout) dimension. Additional Information: Additional Information: Additional Information:

  • HEY ! I HAVE PURCHASED A VFD WITH MATCHING SPINDLE 1.5KW AND CONTROL PROGRAM UCCNC. MY INTERFACE CARD IS DB25, THE QUESTION HOW DO CONNECT TO DB25 SO THAT CAN SPEED UCCNC? SINCERELY "CNC BEGINNERS"

Identify the Control Signals: First, determine which control signals from the DB25 interface card are used for spindle speed control. Typically, these are PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) signals or analog voltage signals. VFD Configuration: Your VFD should be configured to accept the type of control signal your DB25 card provides. This involves setting parameters in the VFD that correspond to the type of input signal it will receive for speed control. Wiring: Connect the appropriate output pins from the DB25 card to the input terminals on the VFD. This usually involves connecting the PWM or analog output to the corresponding input on the VFD. Make sure to consult the manuals for both your VFD and interface card for specific wiring details. UCCNC Settings: Configure UCCNC to output the correct type of signal (PWM or analog) that matches your VFD's configuration. This is done through the software's spindle setup section. Test and Adjust: Run some tests to ensure that the spindle speed is being correctly controlled by UCCNC. You might need to tweak settings in either the VFD or UCCNC for optimal performance.

  • what power plug is used on the 220volt vfd?

You can use any 220 style plug on the 220 VFD. Make sure to use a plug that is for a single phase 220 AC.
