Title
A new toy for The Next Industrial Revolution!. Everyone with a garage (or a spare bedroom) can get serious with their creations on the cheap. Version 4.1, a solid, fast, attractive chain driven CNC machine. Table available for additional purchase. This CNC machine offers 3 axis functionality driven by roller chain and sprocket for the x and y axes and lead screw for the z-axis. The overall structure is solid with respect to stresses in all directions. Chain drive for this CNC machine will allow velocities into the 800 to 1000 IPM (inches per minute) range. A table is offered as an optional add-on. All of the parts that make up this CNC machine design was formed with a keen eye on aesthetics. The Z-Axis can reach 5-7/8 inches (149.225 mm) of travel. Roller chain is kept as the main drive mechanism and transmission of linear motion due to its great characteristic of low maintenance and low to no backlash. For the first time, the table is an option that can be included. The table has four main parts that is assembled with ribs below similar to a torsion box, but will still need to be placed on a flat surface. For best results, the table assembly should be glued together and another full piece be glued to the bottom to create a full torsion box. To really take advantage of space, cabinets and/or drawers can be placed under the machine. Casters below that would allow for the machine to be somewhat mobile. Questions & Answers

Have a Question?

Ask a Question
  • DO YOU HAVE BLACKTOE MACHINES WITH TABLES READY TO GO OR HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE MAKE ONE?

Yes, we have the optional table for the blackToe, but we need to fabricate it, which only takes one day. We generally reserve one week for the total fabrication and packing of all parts.

  • Do you have a cnc kit that can cut 2-3" deep aluminum blocks and costs

Cutting aluminum is not a problem with our machines, as long as it is acquainted with a decent aluminum end mill and spindle, and the feedrates and speeds are being follow from the manufacture of the end mill. Now to have a 3" cutting depth, it is possible even up to our smallest machine (blueChick). I would recommend our blackToe due to the fact that you will have a bit of playing room if any other projects or requests might arise.

  • Do I need Z axis mount for spindle? I currently have router cnc blacktoe

You will need a Z-axis mount for Spindle if you are currently using a router.

  • Cmo se pueden comprar o bajar los planos del black toe 2 x 4 con cadena?

You can purchase the blackToe kit from our website. Here is the link, https://www.buildyourcnc.com/Item/cnc-machine-blacktoe-v4-2x4 If you are wanting to purchase replacement chain for a machine you previously purchased. You can find that on our site here, https://www.buildyourcnc.com/Item/mechanical-roller-chains-ANSI25-sprocchn Additional Information:

  • can your kits do bass guitar bodies and bass gutair necks

Our CNC machine kits can fabricate guitar bodies and necks as long as the CNC machine kit's routing area is large enough for the style of guitar body you intend on designing. Our blackToe is a good CNC machine kit for this application.

  • Can you custimize the 2'x4' CNC Machine Kit (blackToe v4.1) w/ 2.2kW Spindle into a 2'x3' Machine Kit?

Yes, that is not a problem at all. Give us a call.

  • If I purchase the all I would need for this CNC to be fully operational is a laptop with mach 3 software and a router. Is this correct?

if you purchased the USB interface, you will need planet-cnc software rather than Mach3, and you will need a usb cable to connect the usb interface to the computer. The blackToe 2x4 CNC Machine Kit with optional table will need wire to connect the electronics. Don't forget to get some end mills to use for cutting the intended material. • I see that your BlackToe CNC kit is available through Amazon. How do I select options if ordered through Amazon?

If you are interested in ordering through Amazon, it would be recommended that you read the blackToe page on our website to have a full understanding of all the options available. All of the options may not be available on Amazon, but we can tailor a package to fit your needs. Please email sales@buildyourcnc.com for more information.

  • I recently purchase the BlackToe v2.1 (4x8) at a local school auction. The table is complete, however, it is missing the spindle and came in 4 (four) separate pieces. Are there plans for this machine that I would be able to use to reconstruct and determine if anything else is missing.

Yes, you can find all of the instructions for the blackToe CNC Router here: https://buildyourcnc.com/item/cnc-machine-blacktoe-v4-2x4

  • I own a BlackToe cnc machine. The plastic threads with the spring over them broke. Where can i purchase a replacement part?

If you're talking about the anti-backlash nut, ou can find replacements on our website here: https://buildyourcnc.com/CNCMachineMechanicalParts.aspx and here: https://buildyourcnc.com/CNCMachineMechanicalParts.aspx. If you have something else in mind, please contact us to further describe the part you need.

  • I need to know if you have prices for educators, or other ways that a teacher could procure a blackToe 2'x4' CNC router. I apologize that this is sort of a bold question, as your routers are already well-priced.

We do offer discounts for academic institutions and instructors. Please contact us via the phone number above to inquire about our academic discount.

  • I have a Black Toe CNC with your optional table, and wish to extend the x-axis to 6' of cutting length. Is is as easy as ordering another section of table, longer x-axis chain, and longer x-axis rails? If so, would you sell these items?

The limitation of our machines lies with the width of our gantry, so extending the blackToe to 2' x 6' will not be a problem. Adding the required aluminum rails and chain is the essentials that we sell on our website(http://www.buildyourcnc.com/CNCMachineMechanicalParts.aspx). The table extension is something we do not offer. Please contact (customerservice@buildyourcnc.com) for custom requests.

  • I currently own a blacktoe router cnc.Want to convert to spindle.Do I use the same Z axis mount?

You will not be able to use a router mount for a spindle. You will need to get a spindle mount for your Z axis.

  • I built a machine using your original tutorial years ago. Do you still offer the code to run on this machine to make the 4x8 black toe?

Dealing with orders a few years ago, we did supply the g-code files for the machines that were purchased. However we do not supply any files to recreate our machines at the current moment nor do we plan on giving them in the future.

  • I am interested in the blacktoe but want to see on in operarion personally. is there one in lower Michigan. I live in Hillsdale Michigan area.

If you would like to see a machine in action, you can go to the forum and make a request in the buildyourtools.com forum.

  • How do I adjust the gantry/router mount so it is perpendicular on a Blacktoe machine.

Simple ways to get the z-axis router/spindle mount to be perpendicular to the table, you will have to get a level. Set the z-axis in place although you will have to remove it to tighten the top screws which will hold the top router/spindle mounts on the z-axis but you will be able to tighten the lower mount without having to remove the entire z-axis. Pending more info. Additional Information: It's not the Router that is out. It's the Z Axis, Y Axis not being perpendicular to the table. One of the problems was the double washer on the back side of the top rail V bearing. I took them off and ground down the screw head instead. Your instructions for building the Black Toe/Foot are NON EXISTENT, for want of a better word. I have buyers remorse. Additional Information: It's still not perpendicular but it's closer.

  • hi wondering if your still in buisness

Absolutely! We have been in business since 2010 and have never stopped. Is there a reason why you ask?

  • hello, is it possible to send all components of a 4Axis CNC in size of ( about 2' x 5' ) to Iran country without table and all required manuals and measurements to create and assemble cnc machine and table plus required software? i need total price for this request if it's possible for transfer.

Yes, you can purchase the blackToe 2'x4' CNC machine kit without the optional table. https://buildyourcnc.com/Item/cnc-machine-blacktoe-v4-2x4 The 4th axis product can be found here: https://buildyourcnc.com/item/axes-4th We recommend Mach3 or LinuxCNC to control the machine: https://buildyourcnc.com/item/control-SOFTWARE-mach3 https://buildyourcnc.com/item/control-SOFTWARE-linuxcnc When you go to the cart to check out, the shipping prices will be displayed when you click on the calculate shipping button. The instructions to assemble the machine is on the product pages of the machine and parts you purchase. See above links.

  • Hello, I have a BlackToe 2 x 4 machine. I was wondering if it could be beneficial, or even possible to install two motors on the x-axis (one one each chain drive sprocket). I am noticing a slight shift in the gantry with each reversal of direction. If so, do you have a kit or schematic for this? Thanks

it is possible to install 2 motors on a single axis but you will require another driver and motor, but wire it directly to the same pins on your breakout board. Also the orientation of your motor since it is opposite side of the original so getting it to move accordingly to the original motor it will need to be orientated correctly. The slight shift could be the cause of the rod not being completely flat where the set screws are suppose to tighten the sprocket to the rod, so sanding it to a flatter surface might fix the shift in directions. Currently do not have a kit or schematic available.

  • DOES THE PRICE OF 2 X 4 ROUTER INCLUDE EVERYTHING WOULD NEED TO START ROUTING?

You will need the following: - router/spindle for the machine - computer to control the machine - construct a table if the optional table is not purchased - wire and cable to connect all of the electronics Additional Information: - software to run the gcode (purchased separately)

  • blacktoe z axis travel

The Z-axis travel for the blackToe CNC router is 5-7/8 inches or 149 mm.

  • blackToe 2'x4' CNC Router - What are the actual x and y cutting dimensions (eg: 22"x46")

The actual cutting dimensions for our blackToe machine is 2'(24") x 4'(48"), the overall size of the structure built is a bit larger so that our customers have the actual size mentioned with each of our machines!

  • Can we prepare a for the blackToe

We do offer a table for the blacktoe which it is 2' x 4'.

  • Can I make the whole for the router larger? This is for a blacktoe and the whole is about 1/4 inch in diameter too small.

If you are using a router that will not fit into the router mount, it is best to have the mount requested from us. The mounts were designed with the appropriate thickness of material for structural purposes and to maintain this structure under load.

  • At 3:29 in the video "blackToe version 4 2x4 step 9 0001" it shows you inserting a bearing into the hole that the x axis shaft exits the router. That hole is 3/8ths on my parts. No 3/8 OD, 1/4 ID bearing came with my kit, but I do have a 5/8 OD, 1/4 ID bearing. Should I bore out the hole to 5/8 so I can insert those bearings?

This turned out to be a side-effect of the "foot logo" now being bored entirely through the gantry legs. On first inspection this made the two legs identical. I didn't notice that the hole for the X axis axle was bored out to 5/8, but only on one side. Not too surprisingly, I installed them on reverse sides. Pulling the legs off and swapping the side they were mounted on fixed the problem. I would suggest adding a note to the building instructions page to avoid this annoying problem. On the good side, the X axis now rolls much more freely on its rails after un-mounting and re-mounting the legs. Additional Information: Good catch and thank you for the information. We will clarify this on the video.

  • does the planet cnc software come with the usb board on the 3: disc?
