Question #: 14330

Question: What is the warranty on your 2.2KW spindle

Current Solution

We honor a one year warranty on most parts like main machine components, structural parts, mechanical parts and some electronic parts including spindles.

Other Possible Solutions to this Question

  • What is the liquid input and output barb size on your 2.2kw water cooled spindle?

The spindle water inlet and outlet fittings are 1/4 Inside Diameter and 3/8 Outside Diameter.

You can find the silicone tubes here:
    https://buildyourcnc.com/item/pneumatic-hydraulic-silicone-tubing

This fitting will connect to the pump (1/2" male to 1/4" female):

And this fitting will provide a reduced barbed size (1/4") for the tube:

  • What is the minimum RPM for the 2.2kW spindle?

Spindles with 2 poles, which is typically for these types of spindles will have a minimum RPM of 6000 RPM or 100Hz; however, I would not run the spindle below 15000 RPM or 250Hz to give a safety factor and no damage will occur.

If you have a 4 pole spindle, then much lower RPMs can be achieved, and with higher torque than a 2 pole spindle. The 4 pole spindle will require more power than 2 pole spindles and will not be able to achieve as high maximum RPMs.

  • on the 2.2Kw water cooled spindle, what is the cooling port thread type and size?

It is an M8 metric size on the port going into the spindle, and a 1/4" compression on the other side.

    Is the M8 port a M8x1.25 or M8x1?

If you are referring to the book build, use a chamfer bit that is large enough to create a chamfer for most of the edge of the 3/4" thickness of the board, but still has a sliver of space for the bearing on which to ride.

    Additional Information:
Mine is M8x1mm. I replaced the stock fitting with a brass hose barb and used "steel wire reinforced vacuum hose" with a 1/4" ID because it resists kinking and collapsing.

  • What is the Greenbull average power consumption in conjunction with 2.2KW spindle?

You can determine you overall CNC machine current consumption be adding your spindle power plus your CNC motion power and the power that your computer requires.

the formula to understand the current of each component is watts = volts x current, or W = V * I, or with some algebra, Current (I) = Watts (W) / Volts (V)

    For example:

    Spindle:
The 2.2 kW = 2200 watts and you can find the current by taking the input voltage of 220 volt and get the current using the above formula: 2200 W / 220 V = 10 A (Amps)

    CNC motion electronics:
The power supply that comes with our machines is generally 8.8 A

    Computer:
The computer that you use to control the CNC machine will have a specific wattage. Let's say the watts is 500: 500 W / 110 V = 4.5 A

    Add them up: 10 A + 8.8 A + 4.5 A = 23.3 Amps

  • what is the warranty period and do you repair these in house? 2.2 kW (kilowatt) Water Cooled Spindle with Inverter (VFD)

Spindles are generally covered up to 1 year after date of purchase. We do not repair them in house, but we do work with our manufacturer to replace defective units. Generally if you have a defective unit covered under warranty, we will issue a replacement.

  • What is the rpm range of the 2.2kw spindle and inverter?

The VFD is capable of a maximum of 400 Hz frequency. That converts to 24,000 RPM for the spindle. The minimum frequency is 100 Hz which is 6000 RPM.

  • What are the noise levels of the 1.5 Kw and 2.2Kw spindles?

The noise level of the 1.5 kW and the 2.2 kW are very similar. The noise level is considerably quieter than typical routers. I am going to add sound db levels to this FAQ a bit later.

    Additional Information:
The db (decibels) reading for the spindle is 70 and an 890 Porter Cable router (a lower powered tool than the spindle) measured 90 db. Both measurements were taken in the same environment and measured at the same distance from the tool.

    Additional Information:
Practically silent. The inverter makes more noise!

  • What warranty is there on the 40W laser and power supply?

Most of our products have a warranty that extends for 1 year; however, there are parts like end mills and laser tubes which are considered consumables. These parts, when used, become worn, or the usable life is decreased. Laser tubes are parts that, when used, shorten its life, and especially when proper methods are not used (i.e. running the tube with water), can drastically reduce the life of the tube. Therefore, the warranty for laser tubes are 30 days if the laser tube was not used.
