Question #: 14669

Question: Spindle is making a strange sound for a few seconds then shuts off. It is also tripping the breaker on the surge protector. Is this fixable? https://youtu.be/aofbvY3RnIw

Current Solution

Yeah, that is not right at all. I think you either have an issue with the shaft, or the bearings are bad. Probably the latter. How old is the spindle?

Additional Information:
I bought this off craigslist so it is at least 3-4 years old. I've been hearing an odd noise for the last week or two so I'm thinking it was starting to fail.

Additional Information:
I would say that it has lived its life. In CNC routers, routers will last far shorter time. Spindles are relatively inexpensive, so I would just replace it.
