We recently were faced with a dilemma on how to dispose of our scrap MDO. With the amount of scrap coming in on a weekly basis, storage kept filling up quickly and disposal costs were becoming an issue. So we decided to try a new approach: donate it! We posted an advertisement and soon several people started inquiring about coming by to collect our scrap wood that was just taking up space. Since that time, our bins have been a lot emptier and the happy people have been emailing us to show us some of the things they’ve been making with it.

Rhonda was very excited about the prospect of using it to build her chicken coops and rabbit cages. She recently sent us a picture of the doghouse she made using our scrap wood. Terry is a local artist and sign-maker and since MDO was originally designed to be a paintable surface, she’s taken to painting on the wood to showcase her latest creations.

It makes us happy to be able to contribute something unusable to us to the local community to see what kind of cool stuff they are able to do with it. We’ll be posting more updates with more examples in the coming months.
