  • Is there a wiring diagram for hooking up your hex inverter between your USB breakout board and the controller?

The use of the hex inverter in the application to invert a direction signal to have a motor run in the reverse directions is relatively simple.

First, go to this link and look at the chip diagram:
    https://www.buildyourcnc.com/item/electronicsAndMotors-hex-inverter-breakout-newbiehack-integrated_circuits-hex-inverter

Connect 5V from the USB interface tothe VCC pin. The pin on the keyboard jog header can be used. Connect the GND pin from the USB interface to the GND pin on the hex inverter. Connect the CW terminal from the USB interface to the 1A pin on the hex inverter. Connect the 1Y pin from the hex inverter to the driver.

  • WHATISTHE DIFFERENCE WTIH THE PARALLEL BREAKOUT BOARD AND USB BOARD?

The parallel is the most versatile breakout board we have and will work with most of the software out there, but many computers are not equipped with parallel connectors anymore. Parallel adapter cards are available if you don't have a parallel connection on your computer.

The USB interface must be used only with the planet-cnc software, which is great software, but you are still limited to only that software application. This is actually the least expensive option unless you use linux and go with the above option.

  • WHATISTHE DIFFERENCE WTIH THE PARALLEL BREAKOUT BOARD AND USB BOARD?

We have a USB interface (breakout board) that will eliminate the need for a parallel cable. The USB requires the planet-cnc software to control the board.

  • For your USB breakout board, do you guys have, or have a source for a connector that fits over the "keyboard jog" pins?

At the current moment, we do not have a connector/attachment for the keyboard jog pins on our USB Breakout board. We are currently under development of a keyboard jog panel, that will connect to the keyboard jog pins.

  • Do you have a wiring diagram for your breakout board and the SuperPID?

It is not necessary for a wiring diagram for the breakout board to the SuperPID controller since you are only going to connect two wires from the breakout board output terminals of your choosing to the SuperPID controller. The only thing remaining is to configure Mach3 so that the spindle control section serves as the SuperPID controller.

To setup this configuration in Mach3, go to your ports and pins dialog box (config menu -> ports and pins). Click on the spindle setup tab. In the Motor Control Section of the dialog, check the box for Use Spindle Motor Output and check the box for PWM control. Change the PWM Base Frequency to 50Hz.

  • WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PARALLEL BREAKOUT BOARD AND USB ITERFACE?

The parallel (printer cable) port is uses the computer as its main source of pulse trains to operate the motor driver directly. Parallel ports are a direct connection from the processor commonly referred to as GPIO pins (General Purpose I/O pins) and provides a convenient and powerful way to interface with the computer. The parallel breakout board is included in those kits only to condition those signals for use with the drivers.

The USB serves at the actual controller, sending the pulse trains, but the computer sends simple human readable instructions to the USB controller to tell the controller how to send pulses.

The non-technical differences that may serve as the most important information to you is that the parallel configurations allow for a wider variety of industry standard software that can be used to control the cnc machine. The USB that we offer requires the operator to use a software called Planet-CNC software which is a very well made and feature full cnc control software.

  • Will the Mach 3 USB breakout board work with a Windows 7 64 bit system?

I don't see why Mach3 under windows 64-bit wouldn't work with an interface that uses USB as it's primary communication method. I am a bit vague on this, so I will do more research on it.

We recommend Mach3 run under Windows 32-bit when using the parallel interface as this is a legacy function.

  • How do you wire the connection between the vfd and the pokoys57cnc breakout board?

    The Pokeys57cnc board: https://www.buildyourcnc.com/item/electronicsAndMotors-electronic-component-breakout-Mach4-mach3-USB-ethernet-Board

This board contains a 0-10V output at pin #17 that can be connected to the spindle's VFD 0-10V input. On the VFD, this terminal is typically called AI0 or above.

Pin #14 on the Pokeys57cnc board can also be used as a spindle error input.

The Galvanically isolated I/O section of terminals on the Pokeys57cnc board (which also contain the pins 14 and 18, can be used to serve as the on/off for the spindle/VFD using the VFDs digital input.

  • will your parallel port breakout board fry my motherboard in any unfortunate event?

The parallel breakout board can damage the motherboard if anything happens to the board to cause a error. The parallel BoB, is tested before shipment so it should not cause any damage on arrival.
As most electronic components there are a lot of possibilities that may cause damaged. If your motherboard is having issues or you are concerned about the parallel breakout board causing damaged.
We recommend to try to run your computer with both the parallel and USB power disconnected from your computer and run a project without the CNC connected and test for irregularities with the computer running.
Then add the cables for the breakout board and re-test.

  • can I control the speed of a 2.2 spindle through your 5 axis breakout board with relay?

Yes, you can control the speed of the 2.2 kW spindle, and the other spindles we sell, through Mach3 software. It requires making some changes to the settings in Mach3 and in your inverter. It also requires an additional part, which is called a USB to Serial Converter, found on our site here:
