Question #: 14602

Question: the breakout board that i recieved has both a 25pin and usb connections. can i use the usb to plug into my laptop

Current Solution

A parallel breakout board requires a computer with a parallel port. The parallel port provides the communication. The reason the board has a USB port is only to provide power to the board from the computer. If the USB connection is not plugged in to the board, the board will not have the power needed to function correctly.
