Question #: 14623

Question: Does Corel Draw support LaserCAD V8.10.21 as a plug-in using Windows 10?

Current Solution

Yes, LaserCAD V8.10.21 supports the use of CorelDraw and the CorelDraw direct output. In Chapter 2 of the manual (link below) that focuses on the installation of LaserCAD. At the first part of the installation, you will be given a set of options including the LaserCAD installation and the installation of plugins for AutoCAD, Adobe Illustrator and CorelDraw. Remember that the CorelDraw plugin must be installed in the director of the CorelDraw software.

In chapter 5, the manual will instruct you how to install the Manual Download Tool "AWCLaserCut" within the CorelDraw sofware using the Macros feature of CorelDraw.

I hope this helps. Thanks!!

  • I get a "communicating unsuccessful" when using LaserCAD and the AWC608 Laser controller

If you are getting the "Communicating Unsuccessful!" error when you are trying to communicate between LaserCAD and the AWC608 Laser Cutter and Engraver controller (after you have already tried installing the USB driver from the LaserCAD setup procedure), these are the steps you will need for a successful communication:

    - Open the Device Manager window (right click on the start menu and select Device Manager)
    - When you plug the USB cable from the AWC608 Laser Cutter Controller (USB Type B connector) to the computer, you should see a new item in the Device Manager, possibly under "Ports (COM & LPT)", or under "Other Devices". It may show as an item under "Other Devices", possibly FT245R and has an "!" in a yellow triangle.
    - Download the latest FTDI drivers from: http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/D2XX.htm
    - Unzip the files to a folder that can be easily browsed.
    - Right click on the item that appeared in the Device Manager when the cable was plugged in between the Laser Cutter AWC608 controller and the computer.
    - Click on update driver
    - Select the procedure to manually install the driver and browse to the folder containing the FTDI driver and follow the step in the driver installation wizard.
    - The item should now be located under the "Ports (COM & LPT)" and should be named "USB Serial Device (COM#)". The # will be the number you will use in the LaserCAD software.
    - In the LaserCAD software, click the "Select Mode" at the far top right of the Laser CAD user interface.
    - Make sure USB mode is selected.
    - If the Machine name with the correct COM number is listed, select it and exit the dialog window. Otherwise, click on "Add" and fill in the details with the new COM number.

  • Why does Windows 10 block the RnRmotion.dill for Mach3 USB interface from being downloaded?

Yes, Mach3 (the software profram) will work with Windows 7, and windows 10 when coupled with the Mach3 USB interface. If you intend to use the parallel port driver, stick with Windows 7 in 32-bit mode.

    Additional Information:
Rnrmotion.dll is a dynamic link library which is very similar in function to an executable program, or app. Since a dll is executable, malicious code can be embedded in that type of file, so windows will automatically flag all files of this type. You just need to make sure you are downloading from a trusted source. The emotion.dll file on our site is clean, but still run run windows defender against it to make sure.

  • [575] Does the USB MACH3 controller support Sherline 1/2 pulse mode?

The Mach3 100 kHz controller may be able to support the Sherline 1/2 pulse mode, but I have not tried it. There is no information in the documentation that is related to the parameter that can be set in Mach3 for the Sherline 1/2 pulse mode. You may be able to play with the available kHz ranges that the plugin allows to see if there is a pulse width that meets the Sherline 1/2 pulse mode specification.

  • Will the control board you sell work with windows 10 Pro

Absolutely, the controllers I sell: the Mach3 USB controller and the Pokeys57CNC controller will work in all modern versions of Windows, including Windows 11 at 32 or 64-bit.

    Additional Information:
Now I am trying to decide which board I should use. I have a wireless MPG and every time I jog Z my X axis steps. If this is not a board issue I would like to go with a wired MPG. So I would like a board that I can have a wired MPG, use a tool touch off probe, control either spindle (VFD) on/off or on/off with speed control, and have homing switches.

    Additional Information:
Both of the boards, Mach3 USB and Pokeys57CNC have onboard connectors for wired CNC MPG Pendants. However, the pokeys57CNC is a much more feature rich controller.
