Question #: 3512

Question: is there a option I can purchace the black toe 2x4 in a 2x8 format?

Current Solution

When you purchase the blackToe 2'x4' CNC machine kit, you determine the length. The 4' is only the suggested length unless you purchase the optional table. Just construct a table that is 8' long similar to what this customer did:

  • I want to order 8 Hiwin Blocks. Is there a cheaper shipping option? $70 is too much for something that weighs less than 5 lbs. I live in the continental US.

Prices on amazon are fixed costs for shipping. The website generally reports high costs for international shipments but we can give you a better quote if you care to email sales@buildyourcnc.com

  • [575] I have a 64 bit Windows 11 laptop. Will this interface board work with this? If not is there an option you can suggest.

Yes, the Mach3 USB controller will work with the latest Windows version and in 64-bit mode. The 32-bit mode is only relevant for using the parallel port driver if you are using a parallel port breakout board. Since this controller is connected via a USB cable, the 64-bit state will work fine.

  • [790] Is there a way to build a 2x8 flat cnc with a 4 th axis on the side so I can do 24” diameter objects. Or have the z axis that tall

a 2' (24 inches) diameter workpiece for a 2'x8' machine may be a bit too much for an overhang. I would recommend the 4'x8' that can house a 4th axis in a cavity within the limits of the machine for a 24-inch part. If you need the rotary axis on the side of the machine, I can design a machine that would work.

  • the bluechik - IS there a 3D Touch Scanning to scan in present made items ?

Yes, you can use a touch probe with our machines as it is really independent of the machine structure, mechanical components and motion electronics, for the most part. We don't currently sell touch probes, however, but standard touch probes for CNC machines will work fine.

  • Is there an option for 4th axis on blackfoot?

You can add a head stock and tail stock on the blackFoot by designing the table in a way the head and tail stock is positioned at the correct level so the end mill will be at the correct position. The correct position will depend on the end mills that you will be using. The end mill should be centered to the center of the head stock jaw near the lowest z-axis position.

  • Same on the vlxl. Is the y stepper wired as in the diagram or is there a different diagram?

The Y-Axis on the vertical laser XL use the stepper motor on this link:
    https://www.buildyourcnc.com/item/electronicsAndMotors-nema24-425ozin

Here is the wiring diagram for this stepper motor:
    https://www.buildyourcnc.com/Documents/PN.SM60HT86-2008BF-U%20(inhouse%20PN.60BYGH303-13)%20(1).pdf

Use the bipolar parallel option for wiring:
    Red/Blue - A+
    Yellow/Black - A-
    White/Brown - B+
    Orange/Green - B-

    Additional Information:
As in, wire all 8 in pairs? Also, what would you suggest for lubrication on the rails?

    Additional Information:
Yes, the color/color would be two separate wires going to a single terminal on the driver.

The lubrication question would be great as a new question on the CSL.

Also, the above link to the pdf isn't parsing correctly. The link to the pdf datasheet is in the description in the first link (link to the stepper motor).

  • [575] Hi, I have an old version of MACH3 V1.84 - Can someone tell me where to place the USB motion drive as there is no plugin folder in this version.

Are you able to install a newer version of Mach3? If you are worried that your configuration will be lost, you can save the configuration by copying all of the XML files from the Mach folder. The XML files contain all of the settings that you applied in Mach3. Just in case the XML files are not compatible with the new version, make sure not to erase the current Mach3 that you have on the machine.
