Question #: 4677

Question: I need a 3/8" ID Drive Sprocket (9 teeth) --> However all that is shown as available is a 1/4" ID Drive Sprocket (9 teeth)

Current Solution

If you are referring to ANSI #25 specification (1/4" Pitch), we can offer 3/8" bore sprockets with a minimum of 12 teeth. If this is a part that you would like, please let us know by calling the number at the very top of the page.

  • What else from you shop do I need to connect a #40 Drive Sprocket to my nema23 motor, its not so clear

You will need a collar or adapter to connect the ID of the #40 sprocket (0.622") and a 1/4" collar with our OD (0.674"). We currently do not have anything in this nature.

    Additional Information:
For a 1/4" input shaft the larger #40 sprocket, seem's pretty large for the 1/4" input shaft. So we recommend using a #25 sprocket and #25 roller chain with our NEMA-23 since it will be more compatible arrangement.

  • I see that your BlackToe CNC kit is available through Amazon. How do I select options if ordered through Amazon?

If you are interested in ordering through Amazon, it would be recommended that you read the blackToe page on our website to have a full understanding of all the options available. All of the options may not be available on Amazon, but we can tailor a package to fit your needs. Please email sales@buildyourcnc.com for more information.

  • When you are talking about relatys, that is all Greek to me. Will a breakout board do what I need to hook up to my drivers?

Connecting drivers from a controller to the driver does not require relays. A controller typically has pins or terminals for Step and Direction. These terminals connect to the driver's Pulse and Direction terminals. For instance for the X axis: if you are connecting from the Mach3 USB controller, you would connect the XD (X axis Direction) terminal to the Driver's DIR+ terminal, and the XP (X axis Pulse) to theDriver's PUL+ terminal, and the GND from the controller to the PUL- and DIR- terminals.

I have thorough step by step instruction for two controllers:

  • The plans available for download for the "whiteAnt 3D Plastic Printer" do not have dimensions. Are the dimensions shown in the book? Is there a DWG file available?

The plans for the whiteAnt 3D Printer will have the dimesions, and the dimensions will be on the individual pieces(cut to spec). The machine is relatively small, so maybe you expected the size(dimensions) to be larger.

  • I need a Rigit Coupling that is 1/2" on one side and 5/16 on the other side. Can you get that for me?

We sell both coupling hubs that can be created to your specific needs. Which will be here https://www.buildyourcnc.com/couplings.aspx and would be the bottom coupling hub's, not the rigid couplings.

So essentially you would get the Single 1/2" Coupling Hub and the Single 1/4" Coupling Hub, and etc. for different combinations.

  • I ordered a redLeaf with Mach3 installed. Do you guys configure any of the setting in mach3 or will I need to do that all myself?

The redLeaf CNC computer systems will have either Mach3 or LinuxCNC installed as per the customer's request. If the Mach3 license is purchased, the license file will also be installed on the redLeaf CNC computer system.

The Mach3 or LinuxCNC settings will be configured during the assembly of the system. We contact the customer to determine the drive (mechanics) and inertial (weight of gantry and other parts of the gantry) specifications in order to correctly configure the steps per inch, velocity and acceleration.

  • Is a 2x4 -> 4x8 upgrade kit available? or plans to cut parts.

We still have the upgrade available for purchase however we currently have done quite a few updates to our website. So it is currently been moved, the total price minus shipping was at $1,041.00.
That price will include the all the wood gantry pieces, rails, driver/motor, and the hardware that will be needed for the upgrade.
Please email customerservice@buildyourcnc.com for further assistance.

  • I was wondering if it is at possible to get a autocadd drawing of the pieces that need to be built for your cnc hardware kit

The files and hardware option for our machines has been removed from the site due to the following reasons:
Difficulty for the end use of the files and the challenges (and time/money) on our side to assist in using these files.
The abuse of these files over the internet.
Ultimately may reduce the sales of machines keeping us in business.
Sadly, this is what has come out of our company attempting to be open; however, the machines sold on this site is still far lower in price than the competition for the quality that we provide as we have a great desire to engender the cottage industry to fulfill their need for low end manufacturing. My sincere apologies if this causes any inconvenience.

  • I want to know when the second video on vfd (YL-600 2.2KW 220V) parameter will be available?

We will be starting that video shortly. We want to make sure we convey the information clearly. The parameters on the VFD are extremely extensive and is difficult to explain the parameters that will make sense to the average customer. We pride ourselves on making videos that send a clear message to customers and viewers that have never seen this technology before. Making an educational video of this topic is difficult.

  • Can I use one motor drive 6A and conect 2 motor nema 24 425oz-in?, Can I do that??

Connecting two motors to a single, larger current driver, is not recommended. Theoretically, this may not be an issue; however, problems could occur where one of the motors draw more current than the other due to some external forces or friction and one of the motors stalling as a result.

If you need to have two motors turn in a synchronous way as a single axis, connect the two drivers to the same axis signal (the same step and direction pins from the breakout board).

  • Is the blackTooth Laser Cutter available for custom size orders?

We will generally consider a change in dimensions or machine features if the change will be beneficial to other users as well. This is due, in part, to the time it takes to make such changes and that it maintains the desired functionality and expected safety.

What dimensional changes do you wish for the blackTooth?

    Additional Information:
I was hopping to be able to have a cutting surface of 2' x 4'

    Additional Information:
We have that size in our queue to be designed. However, you may be more interested in the laser adapter we are designing for the existing CNC machines to house a laser tube on the z-axis of these machines. This will be a quicker turnaround.

    Additional Information:
Is there a time frame possibly to having this adapter made as well as cost? I am possibly looking to start a business so I am looking for something I can use to mass produce some specific parts.

    Additional Information:
There is one project that takes precedence to the adapter, so I would expect in two months time.

  • 1.5KW water hose 1/4" ID - 3/8" OD does not fit in spindle fitting with ID 0.31"

If you are using a silicone tube with a 1/4” ID, it will fit the nipple of the 1.5kW spindle water connections measuring an OD of 0.31”. The silicone will stretch and you will need to use water or saliva to help the tube fit.

The tube ID being smaller than the nipple will help the seal prevent water from leaking.
