Where do I wire the ground of my "th" and "power 0v - 5v" command on the power supply ? Is it possible to have a detailed blueprint of the electrical wiring (not for the blacktooth but in general) ? Many thanks :)

You can test the power supply, but you will need to take extra special care since the voltage on the high tension line can be lethal. Go to this instructable to see all the step on testing the power supply:

I am building the Blacktooth laser cutter. What is the safest and most accurate way to test the output of the laser power supply WITHOUT connecting the laser tube? Can I use a standard multimeter and measure the voltage output of the laser power supply?

There is some variation in the outward appearance of laser power supplies due to sourcing through different vendors. However, the basic wiring requirements are the same in each case. For the unit with integrated laser controller, follow the diagram found here: https://buildyourcnc.com/blackToothLaserCutterAndEngraver.aspx#prettyPhoto/0/. The terminals on the signal side will have a 6 connection terminal block -- these are the ones labeled 5V, IN, G, P (or WP), L (or TTL-L), and H (or TTL-H). The High Power side will have 3 inputs for AC power, one high voltage lead, and one return line. Connect these as shown in the diagram as well: the return line goes on the "front" (beam exit end) terminal of the laser tube, the high voltage lead goes to the "back" terminal of the tube, the FG terminal (or G) receives the earth ground wire of the AC power cable, and the two AC terminals receive the line and neutral wires of the AC power cable (it doesn't matter in this case which wire goes to which terminal).

I purchased the blackTooth Laser Engraver with integrated Laser Control Unit and have been following your instructions. I noticed that the laser tube power supply is different that what is shown in your instructions. Do you have any better wiring guides that I can follow for the version that I received?

If your country requires 220 volt peripherals (water pump or air pump) for the blackTooth laser system, then we will either send the 220/240 volt equivalents, or we will have them drop shipped from another location in your country, or a country with compatible power requirements.

What's the cure for 110 volt pumps (air and water) and a 110volt laser power supply, in a Blacktooth Kit sent to Australia, where 240 volts is pleasingly normal. The fan and other power supply are 220 volts.

The e-stop should be wired like a limit switch and can also be within the same limit switch circuit. Use one of the input pins to create the e-stop circuit.

1. Run a wire from the input pin terminal to the e-stop switch red side (one of the two terminals on the red side). The red side is NC (Normally Closed).

2. Run a wire from the other side of the red side of the e-stop switch back to the gnd terminal (or to the next switch - limit switch, NC terminal, then back to gnd, or to the next NC terminal of the next switch, do you see a recursive pattern here?).

The wire that you use for the connections should be shielded and the shielding and any other loose wire within the cable should be tied to gnd.

Hi - I have wired in a breakout board (with relay) as per suggested wiring instructions (black toe 2X4). I want to wire in an estop but need some guidance on wiring. Also Mach3 is requesting I reset the estop, which suggests its expecting one? Can anyone help? Thanks. Miles

Yes, the header on the black LED panel used on the blackTooth uses the 2P sil housing into which two crimp pins will be inserted. The crimp pins will need to be crimped onto the ends of the ethernet cable wires.

The online Blacktooth assembly instructions in step 16 show how to connect the LED headers to strands of ethernet wires. The terminal used to connect to the header is shown in the picture, but it does not state what the part number is. Is the connector to be used part number 20170 labeled "Two pin 2P SIL Housing"?

The digital signal portion of the CO2 laser tube power supply has various terminals for signal power, signal gnd, laser intensity and engaging the laser (turning it on or off). The TL and TH are triggers to turn the laser power on or off. These may be labeled L or H on some laser power supplies. You can use either TL/L, or TH/H to control the laser.

If you use the TL or L terminal to control the laser:
If a low signal (gnd) is present at that terminal, the laser will turn on. If a high signal (5v) is present, the laser will turn off.

If you use the TH or H terminal to control the laser:
If a high signal (5v) is present at that terminal, the laser will turn on. If a low signal (gnd) is present, the laser will turn off.

You should first test the control signal from the interface with a multimeter to make sure the laser will be controlled correctly before powering the laser power supply

On the blacktooth machine wiring diagram for parallel breakout a wire goes from 6 on the BOB to TL on the laser power supply. My power supply has an"H" followed by a "L". Which is correct? I've connected to the "L" but the laser appears always on.

For the integrated computer for the blackTooth, the hard drive doe not need to be formatted, but will require an OS (operating system) to be installed. Ubuntu Linux can be installed with the CNC integrated software from Linuxcnc.org. Windows can also be installed.

I am building the Blacktooth with integrated computer, which consists of a motherboard and hard drive. Does the hard drive need to be formatted or any form of OS loaded onto the integrated computer?

I ordered the blacktooth laser cutter, there were only 4 red spade terminals, but the instructions pictures show that there should be more and would include blue spade terminals

Wiring diagrams for the Laser Power Supply will be mostly the same with the updated power supply. The main difference is the newer power supply contains a secondary green terminal block on the front of the power supply next where the hard leads are connected. This differs from the older power supply which had contact points on the back of the power supply. I am assebling the Blacktooth CNC laser 20x24" with what appears to be an updated power supply. After refrencing the wiring diagram on line and the totorial, may I ask for an updated diagram or totorial, the current version do not appear to match match the configuration provided. I do not feel confidant in the educational guess, that I have. thanks

Thanks for the model number. I am going to fabricate the parts and put it together myself to see the issue. We made this modification to the blackTooth laser cutter to better house the new laser controller that we wanted to add to the laser, but that may have been for the AWC608. If there is an issue with my assembly, we will create a new part that will correct the issue and send it to you.

There are no instructions on how to assemble the laser control unit housing that came with my 40w blacktooth laser kit. How can I get instructions for how to assemble the control interface housing? Every configuration I try blocks the wire connection ports.

Use a clamping collar (if you are using an ACME lead screw) or a couple of 1/2 nuts (if using an allthread) against the bearing to keep the bearing in place and make sure there is no axial play.

How do I secure the non-motor end of the lead screw for my 'Book' machine build? Does it just sit inside the bearing or do i use a nut to lock it in place? I did not see any instructions for this in the book.

The 12V power supply has 3 terminals for AC in: N, L and earth ground. The output of the 12V power supply has 2 DC + and - terminals. Cut the connectors off of the ends of the fan and pump wires. Strip the red and black wires of both units. The fan will connect to the 12V power supply red to the + and black to the -. The pump will connect in the same way, but the white is not connected.

I'm trying to hook up the Spindle Cooling Kit with 12VDC Power Supply. I have all the tubes plumbed but can't figure out how to hook up the wires. The power supply you sent only has 2 AC input and 2 DC output screws. The fan has 2 wires and the pump has three and both have a JST connector. How do I wire them in?

I need wiring instructions for the breakout board you sent yesterday. It is not like the one in the videos and I don't know where to connect the 5V. No data sheet or anything.

WE don't have an actual file that contains the instructions for the machines as they are a part of a larger database file that is queried during the product page's rendering in the browser. The best option would be to print the webpage on a printer and use that as notes.

I know this will not provide larger images, but you could use the paper version to write your notes while assembling the machine using the larger images on the website.

On the blackFoot 4'x8' CNC machine do you have the instructions under one file that I can download, I want to print them out and make notes as I am building the machine.

If the sensors are NC (normally closed) you can wire them in series. If the sensors are NO (Normally Open) you can still wire them to the same input, but the wiring needs to be in parallel (like a ladder). I have more information on the following video:

Can you tell me which part the countersink holes are located?

When building the gantry, the first screws the video shows are to be counter sunk. However, there are no counter sunk holes on any of the parts I received. I have a picture I can send if you tell me where to send it.
