  • bluechic v4.2 - mach3 setup video does not play on the metacafe site... since I'm new to this I am lost on how to configure mach3 to the usb breakout board. Please advise, thanks!

To setup mach3 for the parallel breakout board, view the last three videos on this page:
    https://buildyourcnc.com/CNCElectronicsandWiring.aspx#prettyPhoto

The parallel breakout board contains a usb connector, but is only used for power. The USB interface board (sold here: https://buildyourcnc.com/item/electronicsAndMotors-electronic-component-USB-Controller-Breakout) does not use Mach3, rather it uses the planet-cnc software.

  • Please provide detailed instructions on how to connect limit switches to CNC USB BOARD. I can not find instructions anywhere. I am new to cnc world and really need help. Thanks

    The USB Interface page: https://buildyourcnc.com/item/electronicsAndMotors-electronic-component-USB-Controller-Breakout

On this page, there is a datasheet that explains the connection schemes for the limit switches on step 1 of the instructions. The datasheet explains single and multiple switch configurations and parallel/serial connections schemes for the NO/NC (Normally Open/Normally Closed states).

If there is further information you need, please reply on this FAQ.

  • [575] Is there any information on connecting and setting up a pendant.

I would recommend using a wireless pendant, like here: https://amzn.to/49nAjkg (Affiliate link)

I use this pendant on my machine and works quite well. If you have communication issues from the pendant to the dongle, there may be too much interference surrounding the dongle, and exposing the internal antenna works well. This is something I needed to do.

  • I have a water cooled spindle I only need the VFD drive. Does the VFD come with instrutction on hooking the VFD to Mach3?

The VFD does come with a manual that details the wiring and connection specifications, terminal features and a list of the parameters. There is no information on how to connect it to Mach3. It does detail the specifications within the parameters and terminal features on the analog input that is used with Mach3 and other control programs.

  • I am having trouble connecting the cambam program with my Mach3 to my 4X8 Blackfoot CNC machine. Where can I get help on this issue. Have had my machine since 2015 and have not been able to use it. Thank you

CamBam specifically creates the g-code (machining operations) instructions to be loaded into Mach3. Make sure in your CamBam g-code file parameters, you are using the Mach3 post processor. If you have already done this, let me know. If you are not sure how to do this, let me know.

I need to determine steps/inch mach3 setup information for my motors and drivers.

  • Is the white ant capable of connecting to any other program besides replicator g? Is so which ones?

The whiteAnt has only been tested with the replicatorG application. There is no reason that another program cannot be used as long as the program is compatible with the gen4 electornics.

  • Do you guys have any videos showing how to connect limit switches to a redleaf? If not, could you please make one? I looked at the diagrams on the limit switch page but I don't understand them.

Connecting the limit switches on the redLeaf use the input pins on the parallel breakout board. Here is a link to the wiring diagram for that parallel breakout board.

    https://buildyourcnc.com/item/electronicsAndMotors-parallel-breakout-relay#prettyPhoto/2/

The connection is simple. Just create a circuit from ground to the pin. When the pin is engaged, the circuit is closed (using normally open on the switch). Use mach3's autoset to automatically set the pin for the limit or home setting.

  • Can I please buy a vectored drawing of the redleaf control box to cut out on my cnc?

At this time, we don't offer drawings or digital files for the redLeaf or redSprout CNC computer system.

  • When I try to run Mach3 It just crashes and restarts my computer.

What Windows version are you running? I have heard of a windows update that crashes Mach3. Try uninstalling Mach3 then re-installing it to see if that works. Make sure to save your .xml files under the Mach3 folder or you will lose your settings. Also, copy your license file under that folder so you can re-copy it into the new folder.

Another solution is to roll back the windows update to a previous version (just prior to the update).

  • I ordered a redLeaf with Mach3 installed. Do you guys configure any of the setting in mach3 or will I need to do that all myself?

The redLeaf CNC computer systems will have either Mach3 or LinuxCNC installed as per the customer's request. If the Mach3 license is purchased, the license file will also be installed on the redLeaf CNC computer system.

The Mach3 or LinuxCNC settings will be configured during the assembly of the system. We contact the customer to determine the drive (mechanics) and inertial (weight of gantry and other parts of the gantry) specifications in order to correctly configure the steps per inch, velocity and acceleration.

  • I bought Kindle version of DIY CNC book; pictures are illegible. I can't find a place to download actual PDF plans on site. Can you please provide a link? Thanks

You can see the component list on the hardware and plans machine (scratch build machine) since it is the same machine in the book:

    https://www.buildyourcnc.com/Item/cnc-machine-scratchbuild

    Additional Information:

    Additional Information:
Your book claims that plans are available for download, not purchase; the "plans" included in book are illegible and sometimes dimensions omitted - e.g. Fig 3.6 is cutout plan but dimensions are missing from dimension arrows. Your call to provide or not provide plans on the website but should not claim to if you will not. I'll hold my putting review on Amazon until I hear back from you. All I'm asking for is legible dimensions - PDF format will work but I'll ANY legible format. Thanks for your consideration.

A PDF version of the plans are available here: https://www.buildyourcnc.com/Book.aspx

  • I AM HAVING TROUBLES FINDING THE PD PROGRAM, HAVE BUT IT DOESN'T SHOW EVERYTHING NEED TO PROGRAM MY VFD. ANY HELP WILL BE APPRECIATED...

When you power up your VFD, you can go into the programming mode by pressing the program button. You can press the up and down arrows to move through the parameters. Press the set button to go into the parameter to see the value of that parameter. If you want to make changes to that parameter, change the value with the up and down arrows until the desired value is shown, and press the set button to accept the changes.

  • I need wiring diagram from mach3 breakout board to hy inverter

I suppose you are trying to determine how to connect the VFD tothe relay on the breakout board. This is possible, however, not recommended as there is a more robust way to connect the VFD to mach3 or mach4 that allows that CNC machine control software to control the speed and other features of the VFD.

Follow the instructions from this question (number 13383):
    https://buildyourcnc.com/FAQ/13383

To get to this answer, you can also ask this customer service "How can I connect my spindle's VFD to mach3?"

    Additional Information:
If you still want to connect the VFD through the relay, I will clarify this instruction on this question tomorrow as I don't have the information in front of me at this moment. Thanks.

  • Please send a diagram of connections for pokeys57cnc to YL-620 VFD for Mach4

When you install Mach4 and use the Pokeys57cnc, you will use the plug-in provided by Polabs.

You can get this plug-in here:
    https://www.poscope.com/product/pokeys57cnc/

The Pokeys57cnc has a 0-10V output pin (a pulse width modulated (PWM) output pin) labeled onthe diagram as pin 17. You can see this pin at the top of the diagram here:
    https://buildyourcnc.com/item/electronicsAndMotors-electronic-component-breakout-Mach4-mach3-USB-ethernet-Board

In Mach4, you will need to set the spindle speed output top this pin #17. In the plug-in, set this pin at 10kHz.

  • [410] what I need to buy to make this work on my GreenBull machine and the redfly?

Since this 4th axis already comes with a stepper motor, you will need a driver and some cable to connect to the driver from where the 4th axis will be placed. If you have extra space in the redFly electronics enclosure, you can fasten the driver there. You will also need some wire to connect the driver to the breakout baord.
