Current Solution

The pin number for the PWM output for the Mach3 USB controller is pin #3 and O3 (out3). This setting should be specified in the motor outputs tab in the ports and pins dialog box for the spindle signal line.

    This will depend on the VFD you have to identify the correct terminal. The terminal on the VFD will be labeled AI1 typically (Analog Input #1). You will also need to make sure to complete the PWM circuit using the GND terminal on the VFD.

  • I need wiring instructions for the breakout board you sent yesterday. It is not like the one in the videos and I don't know where to connect the 5V. No data sheet or anything.
  • The vacuum regulator trimmers, do you know the part number and brand name for those as I had one snap off trying to use it. I would like buy a trimmer adjustment tool for it as the screwdriver is not working for me and also lookup the specs for it in case I want to convert it to a potentiometer.

    Sorry the trimmer snapped off. You are planning to do exactly what we are going to do in the next revision. The potentiometers/trimmers are 10k ohm.

  • The relay doesn't have a A+ B - it has signal in god. 5v. / 0 S P. This has to go to my USB motion card wiring shows v+ goes to top of coil no number and comes out the bottom to #2 the relay I got from you is not that simple

    The relay is only used for devices like routers, spindles, coolant, mist, etc. The relay works like an automatic switch and will allow current to pass when the relay is engaged.

    Under the board illustration, there are three smaller diagrams of limit switch wiring. On each, there are two connections, the GND and the pin which are labeled at the ends of the circuit on the diagrams. The pin side would go to the axis label ++ or -- terminal (i.e. X++, or X--). The other end, labeled GND would connect to any ground terminal on the board.

    Our spindles have a runout of less than .0001 in, which includes that collets that we sell. If you use a collet from another manufacturer, we cannot guarantee this TIR (Total Indicated Runout) dimension.

  • Hello! Question about the x motor on the vlxl. There is no black lead. Is the yellow in its position? Also, I really just want to double check that this wiring diagram is solid. About to finish the wiring. Juan told me to use the 36V for the tube and 24 for the drivers. Correct?

    The wiring diagram on the instructions for the Vertical Laser XL is meant as a general guide for all laser systems. The motor specific to the axis should be checked against the datasheet to insure proper wiring.

    The 24V power supply should be connected to the laser controller. The 36V power supply should be connected to the drivers to power the motion electronics.

    Not a problem. The laser controller has two terminals labeled for the 24V connection.

    The 36V power supply works really well for stepper motor drivers as the voltage/current on this power supply allows for best stepper motor performance with this laser application.

  • Limit, E-stop and home switches: To set up the maximum number of switches set up I would need 2 BOB's, correct? How is this implimented and wired?

    The parallel breakout board allows for 4 input connections. Each input connection can have an unlimited number of switches, but if you need to separate the switch circuit for, say, all of the home switches, you can use another input pin. There is no need to add another breakout board to add more switches unless you need to use the input pins for totally unique conditions that may or may not be related to CNC functions.

    To Clarify: I need to set up 3 home switches which can double for limits (that's 3 pins.). Another pin for a probe. That's 4 pins used. Now I need to set up the other limit and E-stop switches. No pins left, how do I do that? Can a ground pin be doubled up on?

    Plus, I have a SuperPID. Another pin?

    Additional answer:
    You can put all of your limit switches (including the E-stop which serves the same purpose as the limit switches) and home switches on a single pin. When homing, mach3 will move the axis it wants to home, hit the switch, pull away from the switch, then move the next axis and repeat the steps for the next two axes.

    The probe is on the 2nd pin. The SuperPID is on the 3rd pin and now you have another pin remaining.

    The GND terminal can be doubled up.

  • My Z-axis seems to be reversed on a fully assembled machine... I've tried reversing it in the config settings on Mach 3, but to no avail. What do I need to do? IS this a wiring issue that was not done correctly at the factory?

    If your Z axis is moving in the opposite direction, go into Mach3, click on config, ports & pins, then click on the motor outputs tab. You will see the axes labeled on the left and the parameters labeled on the top of this dialog box. Toggle the dir low active for the z-axis.

  • Good morning, I would like to know if the strength of the 2.2kw spindle is weaker when using the 110V version of the VFD. Does it have the same power as the 220V version VFD?

    The 2.2kW spindle will have the same amount of torque and strength using either the 110V or the 220V inverter. Nothing will significantly change in either application since the 110V inverter has a small step up transformer which will increase the voltage from 110V to 220V to run the spindle efficiently.

    I'd like confirmation on this -- isn't there a cost in efficiency to having the 110v step up to 220v?

    Good morning, I would like to know if the strength of the 2.2kw spindle is weaker when using the 110V version of the VFD. Does it have the same power as the 220V version VFD?
