Question #: 964

Question: Is it possible to buy the plans for the 4'x8' machine?

Current Solution

The files and hardware option for our machines has been removed from the site due to the following reasons:
Difficulty for the end use of the files and the challenges (and time/money) on our side to assist in using these files.
The abuse of these files over the internet.
Ultimately may reduce the sales of machines keeping us in business.
Sadly, this is what has come out of our company attempting to be open; however, the machines sold on this site is still far lower in price than the competition for the quality that we provide as we have a great desire to engender the cottage industry to fulfill their need for low end manufacturing. My sincere apologies if this causes any inconvenience.

Additional Information:
NO, is not possible, I can help with the shipping cost

  • I am looking for a controller for a 3 axis dual Y stepper cnc machine. If at all possible I would like a list of the parts that will be needed. I prefer to go with an ethernet setup vs a parallel port.

All of our controller will allow two steppers on any of the axes. Multiple stepper motors and drivers on a single axis is more a function of the way the stepper motor drives are connected to the output pins of the controller. To connect two stepper drivers to a single axis, you need to connect the output pins (dir and step) to each of the two stepper motor drivers.

Consider the controller on cost, features and how they are connected to the computer.

    Out lowest cost controllers are:

Mach3 USB board - Has good features and uses the USB from the computer as the main connection
    https://buildyourcnc.com/item/electronicsAndMotors-electronic-component-breakout-Mach3-USB-Board

Parallel Breakout - The computer generates the main signals and this board conditions the signals for the drivers. Although it requires the parallel port from older computer, the board has the most broad compatibility with control software out there including Mach3 and LinuxCNC.

Highest cost but most feature rich:

    Pokey57CNC - works with both Mach3 and Mach4

  • What is the best way to determine speeds and feeds for machine and bit longevity?

The speeds and feeds are generally based on the amount of flutes that are being used per pass and how hot the end mill is getting when milling.  You want to use as much of the flutes as possible on single cuts.  Make the deepest cuts you can to increase the life of the tool.  For instance, if a tool that is 1 inch in cut length and the depth per pass is 1/4", then only that 1/4" is being used for the cutting.  The 1/4" tip of that tool will wear faster.
Make sure the feedrate is as fast as possible without a cost to the edge finish.  This will keep the end mill cool since there will be minimal friction as you are always cutting into fresh cooler material.
Use the end mill manufacturer's chip load for the tool to determine the starting feed rate.

    Feedrate (IPM - Inches/Min) = Spindle RPM x # of Flutes x Chip Load
See each end mill for the chip load value.

If your machine cannot achieve these feed rates, reduce the spindle RPM using this formula:
Speed (RPM) = Feed Rate (IPM) / (# of Flutes x Chip Load)

  • IS IT POSSIBLE TO MOUNT THE NEW EXTRUDER WHITEANT?

Mounting the extruder to the whiteAnt can be done a couple of ways. One is to take the 4 mounting holes located at the lower portion of the z-axis rail support and use long screws protruding out. Take a thinner material and drill the four holes matching the locations of the 4 screws and screw on nuts to hold it in place. The other option would be to use the metal bracket and fasten to the edge of the rail support.
