  • I would like to make a handheld remote for the USB CNC Board using a joystick instead of momentary switches. Could you suggest one that will work with your board.

The USB interface only works with momentary switches unfortunately. If you have extensive knowledge of digital electronics, you can apply a receiver that uses a microcontroller and a transmitter with another microcontroller that produces the pulsing signal with the controls that you need.

  • I ordered a 1.5KW 110 volt spindle. I just received the box and the spindle clearly says on the foam packaging and the side of the spindle that it is 220V. I think you shipped me the wrong spindle

Did this spindle come with a 110V 1.5kW VFD?

    Additional Information:
The reason I ask is because the 220V 1.5kW spindle may work well with the 110V 1.5kW VFD. I believe we did the test prior to shipment.

    Additional Information:
I have a 110V HY01D511B VFD already. I did not know they would work together. I will give this a try.

    Additional Information:
If you did't get the VFD paired with the spindle from us, then I would not connect the 220V spindle with your VFD. Let me ask my technician and get back with you.

    Additional Information:
My technician said that it should work since the 220V 1.5kW spindle worked with our 1.5kW 110V VFDs.

Remember to seek the advice and guidance of a professional electrician when connecting these types of high powered devices.

    Additional Information:
Do you have any info on the settings? I would rather buy a pre-configured VFD from you if you don't have the settings for my HT since I have already fried one spindle because of lack of documentation from the manufacturer. If you can setup a VFD that works with the spindle you sent at 110v input voltage I would be fine with the extra expense.

  • I'm searching for a desktop cnc, could you tell me please if any software I may choose could be compatible with all desktop cnc machine or I have to check the compatibility before ?

Generally, you’ll need to check what control software will need to be used with the CNC router. Our machines use industry standard electronics and control software that is nonproprietary so you can use just about any software out there with our machines.

Specifically, what software are you planning on using?

    Additional Information:
    dear Sir,
I'm searching for the best one,I think that I have to learn more about that in order to be able to make the right decision.

    Additional Information:
If you are using a computer running Microsoft Windows, then I would recommend using Mach3 or Mach4. If you prefer Linux, then LinuxCNC is the best control software in my opinion.

  • I'VE BUFFERED A PWM SIGNAL TO 0-10V ANALOG AND I WOULD LIKE USE THAT RUN YOUR 110V 2.2KW SPINDLE VFD. COULD YOU PLEASE DETAIL THE CORRECT WIRING VFD SETTINGS GET WORKING?

This will depend on the VFD you have to identify the correct terminal. The terminal on the VFD will be labeled AI1 typically (Analog Input #1). You will also need to make sure to complete the PWM circuit using the GND terminal on the VFD.

    Additional Information:
I have wired my 0-10V signal to the AI1 and GND terminals as suggested. I have also set the PD-01 and PD-02 settings to 1. Still nothing. Is there something else that I am missing?

    Additional Information:
Thanks for the information. Can you let me know the model of the VFD that you have?

    Additional Information:
    VFD Model # YL600-2S-2K20

    Additional Information:
Thanks. I will check our resources and documentation to see if there is another programming setting that needs to be changed.

    Additional Information:
Does your VFD have a VI terminal?

    Additional Information:
No, it does not. The terminals for this VFD are as follows (seperated by dashes "-").

    10V-AI1-AO2-PLC-DI5-DI3-DI1-COM
    AI2-GND-AO1-DI6-DI4-DI2-FM-24V

    Additional Information:
Do you have a PD070 parameter?

PD070 is the main Analog Input parameter.

The options for that parameter is:
    0: 0-10V
    1: 0-5V
    2: 0-20mA
    3: 4-20mA
    4: 0-10V (4-20mA Stacked)
    5: XIA
    6: (VI+XIA)/2
    7: (3VA+XIA)/4
    8: (XIA_XIB)/2
    9: Max (XIA, XIB)
    10: Min (XIA, XIB)

    Additional Information:
    There is a PD-00 thru PD-09. PD-07 is currently set to 0.

    Additional Information:
It appears that the manual I’m using “Titled YL600” is not the same as your unit. I will check our manuals and find the one that has only PD-00 to PD-09.

    Additional Information:
For that VFD, the parameters are P0. The 0 may look like a D on the display.

  • I ordered a redLeaf with Mach3 installed. Do you guys configure any of the setting in mach3 or will I need to do that all myself?

The redLeaf CNC computer systems will have either Mach3 or LinuxCNC installed as per the customer's request. If the Mach3 license is purchased, the license file will also be installed on the redLeaf CNC computer system.

The Mach3 or LinuxCNC settings will be configured during the assembly of the system. We contact the customer to determine the drive (mechanics) and inertial (weight of gantry and other parts of the gantry) specifications in order to correctly configure the steps per inch, velocity and acceleration.

  • I can't spot the differences between 4'x8' blackFoot and the 4'x8' greenBull (except for laser head option): please, can you tell me?

Only our greenBull CNC machines will be able to use the long Z-axis, due to structural construction of the greenBull over the blackFoot.
The height from the table top to the bottom of the gantry is: 4.25"

Both the maximum cutting height and diameter, will be dependent on the specific end mill/router bit you plan on using, since they can vary in length.
The maximum cutting height (useful to engrave or cut material)is: with spoil-board 3.875", without a spoil-board is 4.625"
The maximum diameter will (estimated) is: 3"

Specifically dealing with our greenBull long Z-axis CNC machines, depending on how you specifically design the table you can have more cutting height and a larger diameter clearance. If you only create a frame for the machine with a hollow center(adjustable midsection), allowing you to have a greater clearance.

  • I am interested in building a computer controlled table saw fense. Do you have any products that could help me.. Thanks

Yes, to build a computer controlled table saw fence, you can try the following:

Assuming that the fence can already move, add a motor on both sides coupled to either lead screw or chain mechanics. Lead screw would be the best solution. The lead screw nuts would be mounted on the fence aligned with the motor shafts at the front and back of the fence.

I would recommend the 425 oz-in stepper motors and 3.0Amp drivers for each motor. You will need a power supply rated for 24 volts. There is no need for a higher volt power supply. Interface the drivers to the computer using a USB interface, or a parallel breakout board.

    Stepping motors: https://buildyourcnc.com/category/nema
    Drivers: https://buildyourcnc.com/category/driver
    CNC Motion Interfaces: https://buildyourcnc.com/category/breakout

Measure the length of travel and get lead screw twice as long since you will need lead screw on both sides. Add a bit more length for space that will be needed for the mounting. Plan as much as you can before purchasing.

  • Do you guys have any videos showing how to connect limit switches to a redleaf? If not, could you please make one? I looked at the diagrams on the limit switch page but I don't understand them.

Connecting the limit switches on the redLeaf use the input pins on the parallel breakout board. Here is a link to the wiring diagram for that parallel breakout board.

    https://buildyourcnc.com/item/electronicsAndMotors-parallel-breakout-relay#prettyPhoto/2/

The connection is simple. Just create a circuit from ground to the pin. When the pin is engaged, the circuit is closed (using normally open on the switch). Use mach3's autoset to automatically set the pin for the limit or home setting.
